Indeed it is a post code lottery much of the time

What annoys me more is that it's also a postcode lottery - up here in the East of Scotland my Mum waited less than 3 months for her knee replacement surgery. Why should where you live determine what care you receive?

In 2008 my Mother received a knee transplant after being on the waiting list for nearly 5 years , by the time they got round to doing it she was virtually housebound with the pain.

Funnily enough I just had my results back from the bowel screening, all OK. The test is more civilised than last time as well. They waist money though, why the hell do they send you a letter two weeks prior to sending you the test, when all they have to do is a send the test with a letter attached.

Some people have short memories regarding waiting times though. The last time I had a problem, I was waiting three months for a specialist appointment, and six for an operation. At least they carry out operations and specialist appointments at the weekend, something they didn't do ten years ago.
A hand up, not a hand out

Letter arrived with NHS on the top left of the envelope. I thought yippee my appointment date for eye surgery so I won't end up with an eye patch and a parrot and do pirate imitation.

I open the envelope and it is about bowel cancer screening. (Eye patch and parrot on order.)
