William Shakespeare was a genius at the human condition but his historical accuracy was somewhat questionable.

The best description of the battle of Agincourt id by Judith Baker in her book of the same name. Sir Ralph Neville 1st Earl of Westmorland is alleged to have remarked that there were a of Frenchmen on the other side of the field and Henry V told him to shut up. The Agincourt address consisted of the king turning to his exhausted and half starved army and saying, fellas, let us go. Which they did. A point not always mentioned is that it was the outnumbered English that launched the first attack

History is history Thomas ,the alliance of Englands enemies was a given

in the days and years of Englands  superiority over its neighbours . The odd victory of the peasants both over the channel and the skirt wearing marauders of the north was nothing but to keep you interested in the fight and coin being donated to the realm .

Great post though , wheres the like button ?

On October 25th 1415 the vastly outnumbered English troops defeated the French at Agincourt .

6 years later , with france on the verge of collapse , the french appealed to their scottish allies , and the scottish army returned the favour by inflicting a massive defeat on he english  , saving france from conquest , and set the tone for the french spending the next 100 years scouring everty englishman from france until all that remained was the pale of calais .( and a few pensioners in the dordogne.)

Vive la france!.

QuoteThe battle of Baugé was a Scottish victory during the Hundred Years War, fought on French soil. By the start of 1419 the English under Henry V were in a very strong position in France. His victory at Agincourt had saved Henry's invasion of France from ending in disaster, and had established him as a major force in France. Charles VI of France was increasingly insane, while his heir, the future Charles VII, was only sixteen, and had only become Dauphin in 1417, after the deaths of all four of his older brothers. The situation was further complicated by the ongoing civil war between the Royalist faction and the supporters of the dukes of Burgundy. This had seen John the Fearless, duke of Burgundy, order the murder of the king's brother Louis of Orleans, while in 1419 supporters of the Dauphin would in turn murder the duke.

The scottish saving france from england is still celebrated in france today , as well as the famous address by charles de gaulle in edinburgh in 1942 talking of scots and french being allies and fighting side by side throughout history....
