You need to remember the only "social media" they know if is ARSEbook and Twatter where the left, and islamists, can rant at their leisure and anyone protesting about them gets banned.
Frankly that is nonsense. I see all sorts of right wing shit posted on both and the only people who ever get banned are those being overtly racist or some such thing. It is very rare for someone to be banned when compared to all the billions of users.

As for twitter, it is the  ultimate echo chamber. Whatever your politics, anything you post on there tends to be liked by those that agree with you, many of whom become followers. And most people tend to follow those they like. So most of the people anyone interacts with there tend to be people with similar opinions.

On the other hand quite a few of those who disagree with you end up blocking you so you never see them again, thus reinforcing your personal echo chamber. Some who disagree become so blatantly rude and obnoxious and insulting that you just end up blocking them.

I rarely go to twitter anymore. It is the go to media for anyone who wants most people to agree with them and who cannot handle people disagreeing.

Would it surprise you to learn that that narcissistic arse George Galloway has blocked me on twitter?

She is of course talking shit.

Yes there are left wingers on the internet - shock horror. We know how to use a laptop or a tablet or a smartphone too.

But to claim that we dominate social media is a dishonestly brazen idiocy that right wingers like to imagine to be true.

It is possible to find debating spaces full of like-minded people of course. For example I am a member of a forum for anyone who hates the Tories, and another for anyone who ever supported Jeremy Corbyn. I don't post in either very often, but as you can imagine both are full of lefties. But there are all sorts of facebook forums out there, including ones full of Tories, ones catering to little Englanders, once that are totally anti-woke, etc. I have stumbled across such before. Fact is the membership of any such forum tends to be self selecting, attracting people with a shared outlook.

More generally on the internet and social media included, I have found it to be flooded with anti-science and fake science relating to both covid and climate change. I have seen loads of near Nazis and other extremists, and plenty of Sun or Mail reading Tory types. I have seen homophobia and racism, sexism and misogyny.

There are forums catering to just about everything out there, including sexual fetishes, religious nuts, and any type of conspiracy theory you can imagine. Some of whats out there can be deeply disturbing, eg so called gore sites. More benign and humorous there is even kiltler.com, a forum entirely devoted to cats that look like Hitler.

The internet is a hotbed of many things, but it is not primarily left wing at all. But what you will find is that whatever your politics, if you put something out there, people will challenge your view and you will get the kind of robust challenges that those more used to a media biased in their favour are not used to, and can't handle without steam pouring out of their ears. How many Daily Mail readers ever get their worldview challenged? They will on the internet, lol.

You need to remember the only "social media" they know if is ARSEbook and Twatter where the left, and islamists, can rant at their leisure and anyone protesting about them gets banned.

As I am not in the military I won't get an ARRSEbook account. You are very much mistaken to assume people in the armed services are rabid Tories.  The military have been crapped on by the Tory government, and those ex-military who have been treated in a frankly disgusting way by the DWP and the government are extremely angry about it.
My own nephew is in the army. And he is very much on the left and hates the Tories.

You sure on that one Tommy? I mean, St Mungo? Which translates as Dear One or in old English, hallo duckie. Doesn't sound very Glaswegian to me.
positive borkie . The oldest literature in the welsh language comes from southern scotland at the time similar to when mungy was founding glesga.

It's a funny thing but as far back as forty years ago I found I could understand a scot perfectly even when either or both of us were blind drunk, but the natives of Padstow might as well be natives of shanghai for all I could understand of their burblings, and it seems that is stil the case today

Newsflash for those in darkest Cornwall. A multi billionaire who likes to pretend he's a left winger and a lover of all things woke has mounted a coup and now runs the only bits of of DARPANet people below the age of 25 use.... You no longer need a .mil email account to join in and be jailed for un woke thinking.

You should try it. Most of normal society has been banned or jailed for at least 7 days for the crime of wanting things the way they used to be ...
John can you translate that into English please.

Then get an ARSEbook account and criticise the left. You will soon understand what she is actually talking about.

Nadine Dorries: Culture secretary says social media has been hijacked

Published30 minutes ago

Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries has said people have become afraid to say what they think for fear of being "cancelled", and that left-wing activists have "hijacked" social media.

In her first TV interview since taking the job, she said she does not plan "to charge out on a culture war battle".
She criticised online campaigners for frightening young people "who actually do want to engage" in serious debate.
She also described negative reaction to her new role as "quite misogynistic".
