Anyone driving without due care or under the influence of drugs or drink is a potential murderer . What I was inferring is that they are rarely treated as such .
Walk up to someone and punch them causing death and you get 15 years ,drive two ton of metal into them while speeding and its a 12 month driving ban .

I remember the case when he ran the guy over , having worked in Farnworth in the past  it caught the attention . I wasnt aware he died though
Yes, he died 2 years after the incident. Unrelated they said but his wife knows different.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Not when you kill someone like he did.

Driving offences seem to be in most cases regarded as minor transgressions . I think its 6 points for using a mobile at the wheel . As Ms Price will tell you though totting up points doesn't count if your celebrity .

Just for the hard of understanding:
We are dealing with criminals here. Actually quite hardened criminals who don't care about court orders. They will drive if they can physically get in a car and drive it.
They care not about a licence, a disqualification, insurance or MOT.
Chopping their hands off?

Nah,! Hang 'em. Sorry Barry but I keep seeing ,The life of Brian, in this thread.

Very glib. Unfortunately, people who drive whilst disqualified don't care how long the ban is. They just carry on driving, so we perhaps need a way of enforcing it better.

As any copper on any unreality TV show will happily mouth off to camera about, generally speaking a disqualified driver has no particular issue getting back behind the wheel to drive home from the court that banned him hence their keenness to crush uninsured vehicles.
<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

There's always prison - if lifetime driving bans were introduced, they could be backed up by a lengthy prison sentence for those who infringe a ban.

Actually lifetime driving bans exist already - they can be imposed on people who are considered medically unfit to drive.  So surely they should also be used against people who are mentally unfit to drive as well.
Why don't we just take everyone's car away and make them use public transport only Ducky, you would like that, even better if it were green transport.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

I might not be an expert but I do know enough to correct you when you're wrong!

I'm against capital punishment but I'm in favour of issuing lifetime driving bans for the worst motoring offenders.  Life would mean LIFE - as in never being allowed to drive again,

I can't get many to agree to the death penalty on here, let alone for a motoring offence. :)

I'll pull the lever.

Well have to hang Blair's 1999/ 2000 (ish) protocol changes first of course. Or we could rescind the understanding between Longshanks and the descendents of Henry De Vaisey / Veyzey, after which I can do what I like in most of Northamptonshire

This is not his first transgression, he killed a mate of mine by running a light years ago.
