My wife went into the local branch of Scope and offered a copy of 12 Years A Slave.

And the chap behind the counter refused to accept it on the grounds that he would not sell anything that had the word slave in it.

My wife asked if the chap knew what the movie was about and that it was actually about a black man forced into slavery in the US. And the bloke said that he did not care, he would not sell anything that had the word slavery in it.

I thought it was hilarious. Apart from anything else you don't have to be the full ticket to work in a charity shop, but the wife is ridden with decency and dogoodery and thinks it was very sad.
