No. There are no good people out there. Not one.
Oh Barry and I thought you were one. :(

Given the number who think a lynching is the approprite way to deal with this and the widespread coverage I'm not sure you will find 12 people who haven't seen this before any possible trial.
I never said rapists should be lynched.

I pointed to the fact Rapists used to be hung for the same reason sheep rustlers were hung, that the offence of rape was the taking of another man's property against his will.

So a certain footballer has been arrested on allegations of rape and assault.

That seems to be far too common with footballers.

It makes you wonder if there are any good people left out there. So either way there is little chance that the outcome will be 100% fair. I see people have already ghosted him. It seems guilty before innocent these days. That's pretty much true of just about everything now.
I'm sure there are good people out there . We have to hope there is . But there can be no real hope of real  justice for those that find themselves the subject of the internet, or just as disturbingly the media in general.
One things for sure the good people  are the ones that have lost out in this modern reliance on freedom to judge via internet. There has always been a high percentage of people of dubious intention toward their  fellow man. If you have ever lived in an English, village that soon becomes clear when introduced to village gossip. The internet gives these people a voice that can reach all parts . It's here to stay. Censorship becomes very difficult politically.

I have a relative who is a cop he told me they see a fair number of false allegations which is perhaps why they have a jaundiced view,I personally have seen two such like but they were a long time ago,a neighbour talking to my wife told her that as a fifteen year old her and her friend had stayed out late and fearful of getting in trouble concoted a story of a man trying to get them in his car and them both running and hiding.
They both gave a description they'd also concoted and that led to a police search, had some poor sod with that make and colour of car and bore a passing resembance been in that area well I guess you know what'd happen but she relating this years later thought it funny!
The second was a wedding a girl came back in to the venue saying a man had attacked her in the car park, out goes half drunk mob intent on vengance, turned out she'd had a row with her boyfriend and stormed off outside then thought better of it and thought it all up to win him back.

I'm not saying any of this is true in this case but it's best to keep an open mind.

I agree with cromwell. Her face was a mess and if someone is responsible for that then it needs investigation but goodness knows how he will get a fair hearing. The girl involved possibly didn't know what 999 was for and went to her goto medium out of habit. Or perhaps she realised that 999 is hardly functioning unless there is a body and assumed perhaps rightly, that the media would illicit a quicker response. After all a woman was stabbed by her ex the other day and there was a restraining order on him and police ignored her pleas. That situation got out of hand very quickly.

It was awfully unwise releasing evidence of a crime onto Twitter, rather than taking the correct action of calling the police.
Justice will probably still be done, but it will be made harder by the social media revelations.

Is that a condemnation of any sense of justice and arent we living in an alternate reality created on the web?

Yes, I saw it. He was found guilty on Twitter yesterday, so no need for a trial. Rant

So a certain footballer has been arrested on allegations of rape and assault.

He is from my neck of the woods and it all blew up when  allegations were made on social media along with photos of a bloody nose and bruising also a recording  (Which was very disturbing)

I've looked on some other forums and he is apparently guilty and should be given a good hiding,I've no idea if he's guilty of anything and how on earth can he get a fair hearing,I'm not naming him though tv and newspapers have and it's all over the web.

Why is social media an appropriate place to present reporting crime.

I know I'm told I am out of touch and the web is the way but I find the whole thing very disturbing.

BTW for anyone thinking no he doesn't play for my chosen team so I'm not biased, on the contrary he plays for the opposition.
