I have a motorised satellite dish. There is always something to watch, a large number of foreign channels transmit in either English or with English sub-titles.

I have not tried that for a long time, but when I was living over in Malta we got all of these Italian stations, and it was wall to wall celeb type shows. Mind you, of late I have found a few German documentaries on Youtube, and they are very watchable because the Germans have figured out the thing to do is rather than subtitles, you do the one documentary but record the sound track in different languages. The Germans have not dumbed things down like the Americans and British have.

Now you will find there isn't anything to watch.

All installed now, there were enough ports on the new television. (WIFI is built in.)

I was reading an article the other day from some book review where a certain professor reckoned Youtube is the new TV. It's the second most popular site on the internet, and because it is a market it finds something for everyone. There's a a whole new industry evolving and the school leavers say the number one thing they want to do as a job is become a Youtube producer! This is not a bad thing and the quality is pretty high.

Perhaps in years to come your terrestrial broadcast channels will disappear up their own arses.

You just need one USB port. Get a box to extend the one into as many as you need.

I have not been outside yet, let alone shop. We may go out later today to buy a bigger television as subtitles, text and the program guide seem to be designed for a  bigger screen that the 22" screen we currently have.

I am expecting problems finding a new TV with the number of USB ports I need and a LAN port.

(The current TV is not actually a TV but a security system monitor, but it was cheap.)

Hyperduck Quack Quack

I did go in a shop and I think I bought something that I might have given to someone.

I eat chips as well, but it doesn't make a bad person  :D

I meant TSMC. Type it into Youtube one day if you want to see some science fiction-like stuff.

Update:

Barclaycard advise the hold of £1 used to validate my card for a transaction was not followed up.inside the time limit and was released.

I did however successfully complete a transaction an hour ago

I'm off to Zakynthos for a second time and this time TUI aren't getting a sodding penny. If they'd done something for their commission last time I might have used them again.

And yes, I was indeed influenced to put my deposit down now in the christmas sale of the airline I'm using, but I had intended going there anyway and have been looking since returning from my Alaskan adventure in September

So it's not really an impulse sale purchase is it ...

I would put that in the sensible shopping category.

I tried to book an easyjet holiday, the "pay deposit now" page spun and spun and finally closed without confirming my booking.

Which reminds me I now need to ring barclaycard to see if there is a pending payment

Each nation does something good.

Germany: for good tools, white goods stuff and Aldi.

Japs: good for quite a lot of electronic and electrical stuff.

This country: good for advertising

China: good for electronics, especially if you want them good and cheap.

Poland: does cheap metal

France: excellent bread & wine

Italy: ice cream, opera and art.

Swiss: precision engineering

Taiwan: chips

The trick is of course to shop around. It depends on the quality you want.

Nothing wrong with Chinese people but Chinese products are something to be wary of, especially if they have wheels and an engine.

With my bank, Santander, you wouldn't need to, the mobile app shows pending now. I love their IT.

Well the barclaycard mobile app says 'error fcs10" every time i try anything useful. Barclays are always apologetic but never seem to sort it out...

I have today splashed out £400 on a new bed, saving something, but since all retailers in this sector never stop.having sales, I doubt the saving is what they claim. But I've used these people for sarah and jennifer recently and they seem to deliver the goods soon that basis they can have more of my custom...
