There isn't any logic, but that is the way things are. London is one of the safest cities in the world and a lot of that is to the credit of reasonably competent police persons such as Cressida Dick. But none of that counts because some coppers in Charing Cross has been heard saying how much they admire the tits in the corner.

As was the conduct of the police officers concerned, who said far worse than what you have alluded to. An example was read out on last week's Question Time - they were joking about using black children as dog food. People with attitudes like that do not belong in the police.

He pretends to be inclusive whilst acting as a divisive person. He always has been anti-Police, as his record as a solicitor bears witness.
His religion is misogynist, so Dame Dick should expect nothing from him.

Now he is putting the fares up.(again)  An inflation busting increase that will effect Bus and tram users the most . That's us South Londoners /Surrey folk then who don't vote for him .

Judging by all we have learned about the Met Police lately - which I am sure many Londoners have been all too aware of for decades - the people of London clearly needed solicitors to be championing them against police wrongdoing. Conflating the defence of individuals against police wrongdoing as anti-police is ridiculous - unless in spite of all the evidence to the contrary you believe that police wrongdoing does not exist, or that it doesn't matter and that they should be free to behave however they please. Anyone who believes the latter of course is the best friend any police state could ever have. A free society needs a police that is accountable, which means it  itself needs to be constrained by the rule of law and be open to legal challenge and redress. To regard a solicitor upholding the law against police abuses as anti-police for doing so is simplistic nonsense.

The same could have been said of Christianity in the past. It has far more to do with interpretation and tradition than anything intrinsic to the religion itself. You do not after all have to look very far in the bible to find verses that could be interpreted as a license to misogyny - and were for centuries.

It is worth bearing in mind that many centuries ago, when muslims were offering us advanced mathematics and astronomy, and most of the time presiding over societies tolerant of other faiths, Christians were burning women to death on the flimsiest of pretexts for supposedly being witches, as well as burning each other as heretics, let alone believers of other religions.

Quid pro quo for respect for your religion is respect for other people's. If you cannot provide that quid pro quo then when the likes of Smurf describes your own faith as a bunch of fairy tales, then what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Yes, it was dubbed that by Melanie Philips, who is on the long list of people you hate, for some reason.

I cannot say I hate her on any personal level. I have never met her of known anyone who has.

But I find much of her politics and ideology very hateworthy and obnoxious. Her view of the world is so distorted by her own ideological assumptions that she pretty much spouts utter bullshine all too often, frequently of an almost Trumpian quality.

She has seldom been known to let a few home truths and facts get in the way of her chosen ideological hobby horses, often laced with a populist appeal to people's more negative emotions as they are.

She and others like her are establishmentarian ideological leeches, fueling malice and division whilst at the same time feeding off it.
