Labour will have a Woman problem as long as they adore Harriet Harman

They will have an even bigger one as long as Starmer involves himself in rows between women. According to The Sunday Times (no link I am afraid. I can't get past the pay wall) Ms Rowlings has launched a fresh attack on him, and our Joanne is ten times better a speech writing than anybody on Labour's side.

And what is Sir Keir bothering for anyway? He has a first class war going on and should be be asking why the British army is freezing outside the gates of Sevastopol, not getting worked up about tranie toilets

I support Trans Gender rights.

I think J K Rowlings is wrong

And I believe that Yeats had it right when he said

"Those that I fight I do not hate,

Those that I guard I do not love; "

I haven't yet come across unisex loos but cannot imagine being forced to walk past strangers using urinals to reach my 'safe' space. Once again it's women who draw the short straw. Although it's possible that many men would be feeling just as uncomfortable. As for JKR she deserves a medal - too many of us think it simply won't happen on our doorstep so just let it pass. I was watching pottery throw down last night and couldn't get my head around who they kept calling 'they and them'. It was one person who actually won. A pleasant enough person who to me looked female but it was very confusing. It felt like they thought 'she' had a split personality.

Every one I've ever used has no urinal .....(god knows why the designer of our offices got the job)

JK Rowling rounds on Starmer after he says 'trans women are women'

The author says Labour 'can no longer be relied on' to defend women's rights.

JK Rowling has accused Keir Starmer of misrepresenting equalities law, claiming Labour can "no longer be counted on to defend women's rights".

Starmer told The Times "trans women are women" according to statute in the UK, and called for a more "considered, respectful, tolerant debate" about gender.
But Rowling said he had misrepresented the law, which she said indicated "the Labour Party can no longer be counted on to defend women's rights".
Sharing an article on Twitter about a Tory police and crime commissioner reportedly reprimanded for her comments on gender issues, the Harry Potter author said: "I don't think our politicians have the slightest idea how much anger is building among women from all walks of life at the attempts to threaten and intimidate them out of speaking publicly about their own rights, their own bodies and their own lives.

NHS-funded clinic is promoting prostitution as a way for trans people to pay for their treatment

  • CliniQ said sex work can be useful and 'empowering' when done by trans men
  • The booked was part-funded by King's College NHS Trust and three councils
  • It also suggests that transgender men can hide the fact that they are trans when visiting gay sex parties

Labour has a woman problem

Leading Labour figures would rather appease a woke minority than be straight with the public.

Even Labour's leading ladies, who you would think might benefit from the wisdom of lived experience, apparently cannot define the parameters of womanhood.

The first to fall at the hurdle of common sense this week was Labour MP and shadow minister for women and equalities Anneliese Dodds. When interviewed on BBC Woman's Hour, on International Women's Day, Dodds seemed surprised to be asked by host Emma Barnett 'for a clear definition of what a woman is'. In response, a flustered Dodds did her best impression of a prevaricating philosophy undergrad, and explained that 'there are different definitions legally around what a woman actually is'. When pushed to be clear, Dodds argued that what constitutes a woman 'does depend what the context is, surely'.

After Dodd's toe-curling display, shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper tried to avoid answering the woman question entirely when it was put to her the next day by Times Radio's Stig Abell. Cooper said she didn't 'want to go down the rabbit hole of defining what a woman is', chuckling at the idea that it might matter that leading figures in Britain's opposition party are either incapable or unwilling to answer such a simple question. Instead, Cooper boasted about the fact that her book of women's speeches had been illuminated in lights in central London the day before, to celebrate International Women's Day. Quite how Cooper managed to collate a book of women's speeches, without apparently knowing what a woman is, is a mystery

Lets be fair too to my mate srb. This seems to be a big problem for the snp liberals and greens , as well as many smaller parties not just in the uk but across europe and the "free west" .

The tories meanwhile are trying to brush things under the carpet.

Transwomen aren't women. They're men. That's why they're trans. Even their own label defines them as the sex they objectively are and not as the sex they subjectively identify as. Trans is nothing more than a homophobic, misogynistic and reality-denying extreme body modification subculture and quasi-religious belief system that demands societal participation in their beliefs and self-perception. 'Gender' is to sex as 'Creationism' is to evolution. It has absolutely no objective basis in reality. It's a subjective, irrational belief based on sexist cultural stereotypes that is projected onto men and women. Trans rights are not rights. They're a demand for society to consent to predatory privilege and medical self-mutilation.

I was never a great favourite of Tolkien. I would stumble to the end of his stuff and my children would cry, read it again daddy!
And I would think read it again? I can barely lift the bloody things. And the movies were no better. I couldn't tell one beardie from another
And that is where Rowlings wins because she introduced literally tens of millions of children to not just the magic of books, but actually encouraged many of them to learn to read.
I am on Rowlings side on many things, but not this one. The way I look at it trans have enough problems without wondering where to go if they are took short
sorry borkie , but im with cromwell on this one.

Tolkiens mythology of middle earth and all the accompanying books are literary classics that has stood the test of time since he began writing them nearly a century ago. Rowlings efforts were a bit of guff written for adolescent teenagers.

Tolkien was head and shoulders , if not light years ahead of rowling in terms of writing and creation , and as far as i can see rowlings biggest plus point was she seems to have a better business head on her shoulders than tolkien did himself or his family , the way she made millions from middling work compared to what the tolkien family did.

In scotland , rowlings is more famous for her opposition to scottish indy and her views on trannies than she is for her books. She was a fierce and vocal critic , as a beloved supporter of the labour party , to scot indy , and boy has history not been kind to her afterwards.

I feel some (not much) grudging sympathy for her regarding the abuse she takes over her trans views , but thats about it.

QuoteThe way I look at it trans have enough problems without wondering where to go if they are took short
well what do you mean borkie? Im a fairly even minded guy myself , but dont you have a teeny weeny wee bit of discomfort at the thought of some six foot bearded monstrosity using a wee lassies toilet ?

When i was a wee boy , we would have called someone trying to do this a stoat the baw , beast , etc etc , now we are told to respect individuals and accept differences.

If people cant see the quite obvious flaws in this transgender debate , and the self Id part of it , and how it could be open to massive abuse , then i do wonder where the human race is headed.

As someone says on another forum , while Russia was building up armies and the chinese their economy , the "west" is too busy promoting people above their pay grade for diversity sake , or building safe places for those who have touchy sensibilites.

The problem for many women is that the public toilets provide a chance to check makeup hair etc. There is usually good lighting and lots of mirrors etc. I can't imagine many would happily repair their makeup with men looking on. Presumably those wishing to wash hands would all share the same sinks/taps etc. This would bring both sexes into a close proximity that I think many would find disconcerting. How safe would a woman feel in one of these places if she were the only female with a group of men? It's an awful concept.

Cobblers the hobbit was the book to get kids readingWhat's wrong with using the disabled?

The Hobbit was alright..

"Very pretty!" said Gandalf. "But I have no time to blow smoke-rings this
morning. I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging,
and it's very difficult to find anyone."
"I should think so—in these parts! We are plain quiet folk and have no use
for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for
dinner! I can't think what anybody sees in them," said our Mr. Baggins

But the rest was sad stuff.

I still can't see the fuss over the loos. Maybe for the women folk, but as long as there is a bush, a wall and a copy of the Standard for the necessary, I can't see what men make such a fuss about.
