I dont know whats wrong with English people in this respect . A few of my pals get all ''Cry God for  King Harry'' and all that and I normally join in if theres a beer in it but to be honest its not as much fun when it falls on a weekend when we are out and about anyway

Still it was only invented to promote Christianity over our Pagan gods so Im not to bothered if the Dragon doesnt get slain this year .

So where's all the frolic and bunting?

The Irish seem to do this so much better — and drag in anyone who's up for a party — but here, no one even recognises Shakespeare's birthday, and he's possibly a better and more tangible national figure to celebrate than some obscure Turkish or Roman (Winnie and Maggie having been born too late)...

The Irish are a bit insecure.

If it were not for us giving them Oliver Cromwell and that low carb diet in the 1840s, Ireland would not have any history.

And St George not only got to share a birthday with Shakespeare, he is mentioned in one of his plays..
