Maybe Rishi can now explain why he abandoned the triple lock, which would have helped pensioners keep up with the rate of inflation. The triple lock was there for a reason. He took the path of least resistance when it was obvious pensioners would never catch up on the deficit.
Inflation is approaching double figures and pensioners got 3.1% when they would have been due 8%. Now they are 5% behind.

The whole idea of a government is to tweak an economy in the right direction with fiscal and monetary policies. Now, although this can create a deficit and lead to national debt, one thing a government shouldn't do is increase national debt by paying for people's needs. That is the most single way of creating a national debt and no economy stimulus.

I was born in 1981. Given the longevity of most of my family in my parents' generation and before, I'm planning on at least another 60-70 years. Please don't wish so many decades of useless-to-damaging government — from any party — on me, Tove and the princesses...

I'm not sure the personnel in the current administration have the ability, imagination or sense to realise the government could help.

While I don't decry calling for ideas to reduce the effects of inflation on the masses — however off the wall — the apparent reported lack of meaningful response, just shows how useless this lot are proving to be.

I'm on the verge of hoping an enhanced Starmer comes through all the beer and curry that's being lobbed at him so that he's able to ditch the residues of the Corbynite wing, and bring some sanity back to everyday politics and life...
I'm not sure we'll live long enough for that miracle.

Why would they ? There are another two years to go to election time, and no sign of them overturning the Fixed Term Parliament's Act.
The FTPA was repealed in March this year, John. They can call an election any time they like.
