On that basis I hope Wrong-Daily wins!

Yes, I'd plump for her, or Nando's, who I'm sure is about 18 and would make the weakest leader.

Just watching the Andrew Neil show and thornberry on her leadership bid,he pulled here on the " your electorate are thick" comments which she denied and maintains she is suing over.

He then went on to say she was sneering at leave voters (see youtube clip) with Dawn Butler unfortunately the clip stops before that but it's worth watching on Iplayer.Anyway she again denies it all  :thdwn:

Not an impressive performance in my opinion. Emily will be whatever type of socialist she thinks her audience will buy. What a hypocrite! The only one I have the slightest grudging time for is Lisa Nandy, but she really isn't leader material anymore than the deposed LibDem Leader, I forget her name, was!

Dear Boris was so wise to avoid a clash with Andrew Neil. Neil is entertainingly ruthless. Boris's opponents both in parliament and in the country called him a coward! I think he was simply wise! Anyway he is the one with an 80 seat majority; not Corbyn or the silly LibDem woman both of whom Neil destroyed.

From what I understand, (not having followed Jess), she was very left, until they lost the election, now pretending to be more moderate.  I don't believe her.

Perhaps you are right. They're all lefties some just more so than the others. None of the candidates have my respect.

On the basis that for the flawed FPTP system to work at its best democratically is when we have a strong and credible opposition I suppose a democrat would vote for the Labour candidate most likely to unite the Party.

Problem is none of the candidates have the gravitas or credibility or the trust of their own voters. None have the ability to unite Labour. Even now ideologues like Rebecca Wrong-Daily, the Momentum puppet, maintains the ideas and policies were right, and therefore by inference the traditional Labour voters were wrong. The fact is that Labour's economic policy would have bankrupted the nation in under three years. Utter economic illiteracy!

When you have suffered the worst defeat for decades against a Party, which to be frank has not covered itself in glory, you really need to change or you will wither and die. With ideologues like Wrong-Daily in charge the Tories should be confident of being in government for two or three parliaments.

On that basis I hope Wrong-Daily wins!

In which case a) be glad you aren't now and b) so you were to blame for the tax avoidance all along ..

As you must be aware the tax offsets for self employed back then were far more generous than they are now.

They were not the same thing as individuals currently in some cases offshoring £billions annually in "tax avoidance," and evasion.

Just to cheer you up even more. When I stopped self employment in 1979, I put two years accounts in to the Taxman, and got an £800 rebate in cash in my pay packet at my employers.

I paid very little income tax when Healey was Chancellor of the Exchequer.

At that time there was a lot more that the self employed could legally offset against tax .

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

On the basis that the Labour Party has largely abandoned the centre ground, there seem to be three active wings; left wing, very left wing and lunatic left wing (Momentum and McDonnell).

Jess Philips although loud and strident is I think merely left wing, while Kier Starmer is very left wing and Rebecca Wrong-Daily is lunatic left wing.

From what I understand, (not having followed Jess), she was very left, until they lost the election, now pretending to be more moderate.  I don't believe her.

Have you tried the internet?  A woke person is a social justice warrior.

I have and frankly I am none the wiser. (What is a social justice warrior.)

And in spite of your utter hatred of the berk with the hair and all he and his party stand for, you're older than me and thus you **** MUST **** have endured paying income tax to Healey far longer than I had to.

I paid very little income tax when Healey was Chancellor of the Exchequer.

At that time there was a lot more that the self employed could legally offset against tax .

My real problems started in 1984 because of Margaret Thatcher, I had to make a decision to move from where I live because jobs started to disappear by the thousand as factories closed.

I then had a mortgage and a bridging loan both at 17.5% interest for several months.

The Tory government are disgusting and the media/press continue not to report the effect of their harsh and doctrinal based policies.

The DWP needs to be shut down it is now a rogue department.

Thousands of people dying during delays to them getting benefit. (Which means many thousands of posthumous payments despite cancer patient supposed to have benefit claims fast tracked.

Universal Credit (which I agree with in principle,) is causing severe hardship.

Disabled people are being treated in disgusting way leading to suicides and deaths.

The Tory government should be in court with a long list of criminal charges against them as should DWP contractors.
