Im a Royalist , any minuses are made good by the wealth they bring into the country . Aside that I like tha fact we kept ours while others got rid of theirs dispite some peoples best efforts

Without them we would just be another shite republic in Europe , like France .
Precisely, no better off. Just removing the privilege involved would make little or no difference to the vast majority of people. The infrastructure of the crown would remain in the hands of the state, and if it didn't the state would be diminished but not to the benefit of the man in the street. A no win situation.

I told you so. :P

Royal protocol will be followed and William will be King. It's not too broken, so we won't fix it.

Royal protocol will be followed and Charles will become King. The Queen has opened up the way for that to be accepted in her 70th year letter which she published. Charles might abdicate early, but I doubt that. I think Prince William will have to wait until Charles dies.
You anti royalists are having a bit of a wishful thinking dream. Butt Kick

Hedging your bets :P

Monarchy is an outdated anachronism.

I hear all the concerns about a President Blair or Major as an alternative. It could be even worse than that! Imagine President Johnson? Or President Rees-Mogg? Or President Farage? Maybe President Abbot?

Clearly any replacement for the monarchy must not have greater powers than the monarch currently has, and we need to ban anyone who has ever sat in the legislature from standing for the office.

Such a change however would need the approval of the British people in a referendum and that is not likely to be forthcoming right now. King Charles is certainly going to enjoy a honeymoon period. But he has never been as popular as his mother so time will tell in the longer run. Historically monarchies have only ever tended to be as popular as the reigning monarch. So let's see.
You'd think considering how unpopular he is he'd have thought first before putting that target on his chest?

We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

I guess all the above sum up my feelings.

It has to be admitted by all but the most fervent royalist that the monarchy is an anachronism in this day and age. But I cannot see any political system in operation, or proposed, that improves on what the UK has now.

What happens from here on in depends on King Charles III, and what may crawl out of the woodwork. He's not as popular as our late Queen, but there is a degree of sympathy for him, so with his consort (who seems to be gaining greater approval) he might be able raise the Royals' stock given time...
On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

The fear of a President Blair or President Bojo, keep me as a Monarchist.

Charlie is a full-blown agent of the WEF being scared we might end up with a president instead won't make much difference so are the most likely candidates.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

The future of the monarchy?

Never hidden I'm a republican, but nothing is ever simple.

Cannot deny that the Queen did a remarkable job,she was a one off and therein lies the problem,I have little or no respect for Charlie or his ugly sister wife,he's set himself up to fail he is a hypocrite re his first marriage as Jog pointed out.

As said the queen did a remarkable job but her kids,Andrew entitled tosser,I wont comment on his American connections since he's not been found guilty of anything.

I saw him on a documentary bellowing across horse guards at two people "Oi you two clear orf this hasn't been laid on for you you know" him upbraiding a maid for not closing the curtains properly after he called her up several flights of stairs to close his curtains, could've got off his entitled arse and closed them himself.

Anne and another documentary must've forgotten the cameras were running as she slagged off Lech Walesa as a peasant and worse when he was here on a state visit.

Back to Charlie and him signing the papers clearly showing his temper and arrogance there's more not shown on that clip so as rumoured when he's thrown things and berated servants shows himself up.

Should've gone straight to William who faced with signing the same document calmly moved the pen holder around,no fuss,no temper if it is to remain we need rid of all the hangers on to monarch heir and the rest should go get a job.

I'd see a republic tomorrow, what's stopping me.....President Bliar,Major the adulterer who very recently said the contaminated blood scandal was bad luck,Cameron the runaway saw them all and more at the signing, the only one with any manners and credibility to me seemed Brown.
