I'm b also rather pleased I've never had the problem to that extent to start with
I am not the only one with the problem, the last Microsoft update did it.

Cor Blimey  can't anyone on this forum read? I have CURED the slowness and other problems, by not loading graphics and pictures.  I have had automatic cache clearing set for years, it stops a lot of problems building up.
Well, if we're going pedantic, of course I understand that if you want to degrade your overall experience by not viewing pictures you will certainly accelerate your browsers ability to display the page.

I found your remark a few posts ago 'I have cache deleted set to be automatic' to be a rather strange way of putting it. I took it to mean you had taken action to set this whereas of course it might be interpreted as 'my settings are unchanged from the default"

As the Plain English campaign might say, this is the difference between 'helping your Uncle Jack off his horse" and "helping your Uncle jack off his horse"

im delighted you've found a solution. I'm b also rather pleased I've never had the problem to that extent to start with

You've cured a problem that you caused in the first place.
Nick I did not cause the problem at all. This forum and newspaper websites had the problem, no others.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

And that is why loading is slow, you're constantly refreshing the same images. The question is, what are you watching that makes you delete your history automatically!!

I'm not sure what that will do, but if you are altering settings for pictures from what the developers of your browser set bbc as default it no longer surprises me that you seem to be regularly reporting problems others don't see.

John I have cured the problems I was having, no more slowness, or locking up. All I did was suppress graphics and images, by changing to text only mode in Javascript. (I can let some sites show graphic and images when I can get around to it.)
I had given up on newspaper websites because of the slowness and locking up problems.
My changes do not effect videos.

From my own postings in some of the technical sub boards you'll quickly see that I've had the occasional problem on this forum, and one quite recently, but you do seem singularly chosen to be the recipient of problems in the area.

I learned long ago that altering things can often make things break, although to be fair I was being paid handsomely to make those breakages happen.

It also makes no difference unless you're constantly deleting your cache. Pictures only load once and are referenced locally unless you delete the local cache.

That makes the Internet even more boring.
