Yeah, we don't have one, nobody round here talks to anyone.

Is it working for you ?
No, burglaries, cars being broken into, or similar since 1986, within the Neighbourhood Watch area. Main local problem is drivers who need a guide dog, and drivers doing 100mph where the limit is 60mph. Both factors account for the road into the village being blocked for hours on a regular basis due to accidents. Latest incident from 22.00 hours last night until 08.00 hours this morning.
No-one has a clue what happened, it was outside the main gate of the Navy Base at Culdrose.

That is called neighbourhood watch, it gets me a 15% discount on insurances.

Clearly, you need to find a neighbour willing to be a bit more proactive in protecting your street.

What happened was that someone pinched our catalytic converter and, both of us being pretty near crippled and immobile, resulted in some inconvenience.

Anyway, the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime Victim Satisfaction was after some feed back. So I went down the list which asked if the police had been sympathetic and provided support and all the rest to which I said that Plod had been professional throughout and that it was a pleasure to deal with them.

It was only at the last when I was asked for comments that I had the chance to say that I had been told by the police that they would not be pursuing the matter so this was clearly just a box ticking exercise and that Plod were merely going through the motions and that I could not see why I was paying my taxes.

So there you are. London police; great with small children and for a bit of a craic, but crime fighting wise, f**king useless

It was over four years ago now but it still pisses me off to the extent I react violently when some T@@@ comes round asking for my vote but ...

For 25 years I've been paying council tax for jog towers but the road has not been adopted by the stasi. This means they can ignore things like street light failures.

When all the lights failed some thieving fucking hooligans came breaking into all the cars in the street. I thought they had some balls but a week later was called out to a night shift disaster so got back at 2am which is when I saw all the lights out

So various criminals were able to take their time in Stygian blackness

They broke into the car rifled the glove box finding sod all then proceeded to empty the boot into the back seat. They got as far as the spare wheel and rifled through the hi via jacket and took the twenty quid I kept in its inside pocket in case I ran out of diesel on the road. And they got their fingerprints all over the leather case of a sort of giant Filofax thing they clearly thought held a laptop but only held a4 paper !!

I reported the problem and like you got a victim support letter.

a month later the Labour Party T@@@ came round seeking my support for re election of their political nominee Police and crime commissioner

they Didn't press charges after I literally picked him up by the lapels and threw him into the gutter and told him if he stepped on my property EVER again I'd kill him.

but F@@@ me it felt good to do that.

they DID send a plod round after that to apologise in person for not coming to fingerprint the laptop case.

I showed him my home office licence to experiment on living animals and explained I sat up every night in my living room now, with a freezer knife, waiting for the scum to come back

About a week later a council lorry came and repaired the street lights.

and last year they sent a road crew to resurface the road so they could adopt it.

Clearly, you need to find a neighbour willing to be a bit more proactive in protecting your street.

You have to look after your own stuff Borky . The days of relying on plod or our courts to protect us are long gone . Even on the odd occasion when these scumbags are caught they get off with paying a bit of compo and a small fine often less than the scrap value of just one unit .

The deterent just isn't there .

Was told a story by a mate of my dads who was a dog handler in for GMP that a colleague of his attended a minor fight between 2 lads on the rec (recreational ground). One lad had thrown a punch and the other one had retaliated.
Plod showed up and asked what had happened and both boys said nowt, but after a few pointers they confessed to having a minor skirmish. The copper asked one lad if he'd been punched and he replied yes, same with the other lad. Cop asked if the ripped jeans and ripped coat had occurred during the altercation and they both replied yes.
All four incidents went down as solved crimes, with the 40k burglary from someone's house, Greater Manchester Police had a record of an 80% success rate!!
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
