Could be a couple of reasons, radio call saying no more units required or they were near where needed and didn't want to alert someone to their presence.

Oh yes that could be an explanation, certainly no-one could have made a sharp exit.

The one way road they went up was one of those which is narrow with cars parked on both sides. It's a pretty blind turn where they entered it and only one car would fill it. As I looked at them as I drove past they had turned off the lights etc. I wonder - perhaps they were late for Sunday lunch.   :D

It would not be the first time a gwent chief constable has abused the facility to make a dinner appointment ... so I expect his staff to be beyond reproach for following the example he set

But the reality is probably nearer Cromwells offer

They can do anything as long as the lights are on.  (They often do lights or no lights anyway round here)

If they hit anything its better for them if they do not leave witnesses

They can do what they like in an emergency, but if they ignore a red light or no entry sign, and an accident occurs as a result, they are still liable to be prosecuted.

A cop car passed me in a line of traffic having already got through traffic lights on the wrong side of the road. That was ok I guess in the circumstances but then they ignored a no entry sign and went the wrong way along a one way road. Should they have done that?

I have never seen that before.
