As a clinically extremely vulnerable person it isn't bollocks for me.

You are 75 Pappy, so your next serious illness will probably be death. And as I said earlier, the only cure for whatever ails you is to grow younger and you can't get that on the NHS. Admittedly as John says, when you see some of those delightful pieces of nonsense working in the hospitals and the like you feel a hell of a lot younger, but sadly, you ain't.

So cheer up. Plenty of time to be glum when you are dead

I ought to be, but every time they stick a needle in me the test results identify with the chippendale i was in my 20s. Even the last guy sizing up my blood chemistry prior to the hosepipe with extra scissors and cauteriser job i just had was forced to admit if he didn't know from tbe records i have atrial fibrillation he would not have said it was there.

I wasn't sure how to react when the letter from the endoscopy dept said they were looking forward to seeing me. And when the bloke in charge handed the controls to this drop dead gorgeous blonde called Susan half my age ibdidn't know where to look. Jeez.

I don't, I get regular "subpoenas" from the local medical centre at least 4 times a year to attend appointments, with various specialist nurses.  I have to admit to not seeing a doctor for many years apart from the specialist who removed cataracts from my eyes. One nearly three years ago and my from my left eye 11 days ago.
Getting a dentist appointment has now got back to normal. (After several years of difficulty.)
(Just had letter about this years flu jab.)

I get all that. More to the point, Herself gets them and she checks up to see if I have not had them and then demands that I attend the endless appointments. It is all bollocks. At my age the only cure is to grow younger. I am in no rush to throw off this mortal coil and such, but I have to say there is something to be said for being left to go pleasantly to pieces.

No wonder people struggle to get appointments ,

I went to see the quack a little earlier and she started on about cholesterol and statins and I said look dolly, all I know about cholesterol is that Stork Margarine is low in it (or was when I saw the advert about 60 years ago) and as for Statins and satins and silks and laces, you are the professional and know your stuff, so I am in your hands. Just prescribe the pills and if you poison me it won't matter because I am going to be cremated so no one will find out anyway.

She was new and I suspect was being given a hard time by some of the other patients, because her face lit up and pretty soon we were bunnying on about family and hobbies and all the rest.

So there you are. Ignorance may not be bliss, but it can help you make friends :)
No wonder people struggle to get appointments , the quack is chatting about allotments with Borky all day ;D. This is what we miss though . With the system overloaded with the population increasing nobodies got the time of day to just talk about stuff . Your Doc probably learnt more about you and your health needs during your chat than all the tests she had at her disposal .
