Police and Crime Commissioners

The PCC was supposed to be someone put in place to restore accountability.



In Gwent, it worked the first time with an independent  but the second time round only political nominees were on the ballot paper.



In Gwent, we had the dubious honourof a ward where NO votes were cast



It's the sink estate all the criminals live in, mind.



We need to stop the police having a political agenda and retuemenbtobthen feeling collars of the criminals who are currently happily preying on us, the people whose taxes pay the bloody police salaries

Couldn't agree more with Papasmurf.

Each one wastes about £100k plus associated staff every year. Totally unnecessary as they don't do a thing to tackle crime.

We'll never get rid of them, though.

This ain't the US and commissioner Gordon isn't needed here to summon batman,was is and always a bloody daft idea and somewhere for another person to drain public money and pretend they are of use.



At the time this idea was mooted the public made it clear they didn't want them and the voting figures support that.

Precisely. They are a waste of public money. Locally there has been several public "consultations" using glossy brochures on the commissioner website and paper format and there has not been a cost benefit analysis or fact in any of them.

I must admit that I really don't like the thought of voting for police or mayors, but having said that the option is that they are appointed and that has potential problems too. If we could really trust honesty and integrity life would be much simpler.

I am being crystal clear, as well as each candidate, there should be an option for no police commissioner.
