Local councils are not value for money, the vast majority of the money goes on the chiefs and little to the too few Indians.

No they went tits up because instead of getting the right people in to do the big stuff they took it on themselves  and paid themselves a fortune for doing it  .
They had the responsibility put on them by the Tory government. (Just been on the news another 20 councils about to go tits up.)

The Tory government lumbered councils with the big stuff, and underfunded them so when things go tits up they can blame the councils.

It isn't the only council in serious financial trouble there are an equal number of Tory and Labour councils and one Lib/Dem.
Quite right Papa , these wannabe politicians come in all colours . My own conservative councillor ,nice lady, has a decent CV if you want to employ a school govenor ,a campaigner to keep the local park open past 6 o'clock or a fund raiser for the Christmas lights .
You wouldn't want to put her in charge of a multi million pound housebuilding project though . This is in effect what councils are doing up and down the country . Too many people who have never run a whelk stall suddenly finding themselves in charge of multi million pound budjets . Like other recently bankrupt councils nobody will face the music though , the council tax will increase above the cap and these muppets will still be in charge ,spending other peoples money on their latest bright idea .

They will blame funding cuts , adult care and the like while blaming anyone but themselves for their own incompetence while trousering £100K+ salaries .
