William and Kate issued warning: 'It will cause a great deal of problems'

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been issued a stark warning after a statement was released on their behalf condemning the acts of terror by Hamas against Israel.

The statement read: "The Prince and Princess of Wales are profoundly distressed by the devastating events that have unfolded in the past days."

"The horrors inflicted by Hamas's terrorist attack upon Israel are appalling; they utterly condemn them."

"As Israel exercises its right of self defence, all Israelis and Palestinians will continue to be stalked by grief, fear and anger in the time to come."

While many such as those in the Jewish community have praised the couple's words, others fear they may have made a misstep.

Royal author Phil Dampier commented on the statement while speaking with Patrick Christys on GBN Tonight, saying: "It's a very, very tricky one, isn't it?"

"I mean it's totally understandable that they want to condemn Hamas and call them terrorists like any probably sane person. But it is a problem, it is straying into politics."

The statement came from Kensington Palace shortly after a similar statement was made by Buckingham Palace on behalf of the King earlier in the day.

Patrick himself showed surprise at the breaking of Royal protocol.

He said. "I think, let's be honest, Israel-Palestine is probably the most political thing in the world. So it came as a bit of a shock actually."

He also worried the sentiments could cause a stir in the Muslim community, which being neutral on the issue could have prevented, asking if they are putting themselves under threat.

During the conversation, Lady Colin Campbell showed her disapproval at the Royal couple's approach to the politics of the situation.

"I think to use the word terrorist is a little bit over egging the pudding in terms of impartiality."

Similarly, Dampier wondered where the couple will draw the line as the conflict continues.

"My worry is that when we start to get the probably inevitable ground attack by Israel and we start to get pictures of the first civilian casualties, are they going to comment on that?"

"We're then going to start to get a sort of running commentary aren't we, it's going to cause a great deal of problems."
