My wife has just read this thread and is very angry about Nick calling me a liar because she remembers the palaver we had arranging the trip to Canada ourselves, (Including car hire.) and the need for Visas for America AT THAT TIME.

And on the Visa application it asks for a reason you are entering the States and the port of entry. And just in case doesn't wash with US immigration. I have a 10 year Visa for the U.S., it took 6 months to get. An airline going to Canada would not insist on you having a Visa for any country other than Canada, and an airline would not check your entitlement to enter Canada until you check in at the Airport, they certainly wouldn't stop you buying a ticket. Smurf is lying out of his arse, everyone knows it.

My recollection is Papa wasn't going to the USA he was going to Canada . The reason for having a US visa was just in case the Plane crashed in Maine on its way to Pearson

And on the Visa application it asks for a reason you are entering the States and the port of entry. And just in case doesn't wash with US immigration. I'm surprised i wasn't forced to fill in a form to handle the reverse scenario, in case the 747 taking me to SeaTac overflying British Columbia was downed by the goid friends of Mustapha Leek.

But anyone who has actually flown that route knows such acts would be pointless, for even if you survived the impact you'd be carrion ling before Delta Force (coming up the Yukon trail or the Mounties Search And Rescue guys found the wreckage

Streetwalker we both had to fill the forms put sent to us by the airline, and fill them out before we could get tickets. (Decades  before that my mother had to get a visa for America before she could fly to Canada to see my sister.)

I dont really get that ,as discussed before on the matter any diversion is covered by a various international transit laws .
