Are you sure the UK will not/cannot assist dual nationality British citizens detained abroad?

The UK government's "Support for British nationals abroad: A guide" says:

If you are a dual British national in a third country
(that is, a country of which you are not a national)
and hold a valid British passport, we will offer you our
full support.
If you are a dual British national in the country of
your other nationality (for example, a dual US-British
national in the US), we would not normally offer
you support or get involved in dealings between
you and the authorities of that state. We may make
an exception to this rule if, having looked at the
circumstances of the case, we consider that there
is a special humanitarian reason to do so. These
circumstances might include cases involving minors,
forced marriages or an offence which carries the
death penalty. However, the help we can provide will
depend on the circumstances and the country of your
other nationality agreeing to it.

The UK government certainly got involved with Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who was released following successful UK-Iran negotiations...
Well there it is ,''we would not normally get involved  bla, bla '' .The key there posty is that Egypt have to agree to the UK giving assistance , basically that they are open to discussing the case . Im not sure if Egypt would as El-Fattah obtained his British nationality while in jail through his mother who was born in the UK . Getting a UK passport was a clear ploy to assist in his release as Egypt are known to deport foreign inmates
As I said though we have no obligation to help as we would a sole British national

How much difference the UK made in securing the release of Ratcliff is open to debate ,she didn't seem to think the UK was much help and remember she had served her sentence before being released . The hold up being about a bill we hadn't paid if I recall ,we may actually have been more of a hindrance than help in that one

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is a pretty dimwit and thus a vote winner.

Alaa Abd El-Fattah is a hairy shit stirrer. The Egyptians police will probably give him a good kicking and then let him go in a month or so when the dust settles.
Interesting opinions though those may be, do they have any bearing on the standard UK stance on Brits with dual citizenships banged up abroad...?
On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

As a dual national he must accept his fate .The UK has no legal avenues to give this guy any help and his family are clutching at straws .
Maybe he thought having UK nationality would help him ,he was wrong . As a dual national myself it is clearly stated and reminded that when you are in the other country the UK can not interfere in any way as they would if you are solely a UK national . Its why the consulate is not getting involved ,It can't

Another case of Sunak promising stuff without having the tools to do so .  Good luck to the guy but not our problem
