"Economically Inactive."

Sunak keeps rabbiting on about the "economically inactive," giving the impression (wrongly or a blatant lie,) that the 8 to 9 million of them, (it has been more or less that for decades,) are available for work. Factually the majority are not:-

Also sick notes have not existed since 2010:-

Fit Note Reform: call for evidence - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The fit note was introduced in 2010 to replace the 'sick note' and to ensure patients received advice about the benefits of returning to work, and employers had the information they need to make changes to facilitate an earlier return to work.
Ah yes, the Old 'deride the fact by changing the name' game

it really does not matter what it is called.

We all know what it means.

I am certain that a post I made here about the likelihood of my own gradual transition into economic inactivity has been deleted without explanation.

I don't know why I even bothered.
We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

And that's the problem when they say people have to work longer, depends what industry you're in.

I knew a bloke who a few years back had worked a lifetime in the building trade had bad heart problems but they said he was fit to work which would be ok if you have a sedentary job.
This is the problem with the state retirement age which I see as needing a complete overhaul . Manual workers like myself are asked to work till they are in their mid 60's and that's going up . How does anyone expect a 68 year old to work in the trenches ? its just not on most will end up on the sick or dead .
Then you get some bean counter in the civil service  getting early retirement at 55 and happy days fit as a fiddle and living another 30 + years on the taxpayer .
Ok its the industry I chose and I wouldn't change it but the point is they have in raising the retirement age .

So there is a growing number of manual workers who just say no ,we have done our bit and we are out ........where did I leave the golf clubs ?

That's me though I don't know if I'm long term sick or retired . Is there a 'your body is too old to work on a building site '  squiggy line ?

They have had all they are getting from me even if I did do a bit of work Im not paying any tax so no need to knock on my door .
