Yes we all know your view on them. Got anything useful to contribute ?
Not that I am posting on a forum yet I am waiting for conformation, which may, ( I won't be holding my breath,) in the Kings Speech.

Suella Braverman has said "elect me, or I'm joining Reform UK".

She stayed on under Sunak on the proviso that he implement the Rwanda scheme and ignore the European Courts.
He dragged his feet and when she pushed to get people on the Rwanda flights, he sacked her. Rishi is a snake oil salesman.

Cleverly is another of these wet so-called Tories and he'll take the Tories to the same place the "gang of four" went to after their declaration in 1981. (Roy Jenkins, David Owen, Bill Rodgers, and Shirley Williams). They are going to fail with a capital F.

I would rule out Braveman and Badenoch .  They are two peas in a pod that would find their natural homes in the Reform party

Cleverly looks like the safe bet having had all the top jobs bar the big one and would unite the party in the central zone ,a planck to the right of Starmer

Jenrick and Tugendhat  are  going to be the traditionalists pick and would imagine one of those will appear as Cleverly's main challenger when the time comes

There are no Tories, I would trust to run a "party," in a Brewery.  My problem is thus far, it is looking as if Labour is going to be Tory Mark Three.

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

The Conservatives could do with a Michal Howard type steadier to help bring the party back to its senses.

The Tories have as broad a spread of political aims and opinions as Labour, but has mostly had enough sense to recognise the art of the possible. The party now has five or ten years to get itself back on track and fit to govern the UK for its people, and not just the most influential...
Michael 'i have done nothing wrong' Howard ?

i nearly got trapped in a submarine with him for 48 hours. If i had it would have been a coin toss between me putting him in a forward torpedo tube and me doing the emergency escape hatch drill forvreal without tbe safety divers

On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

They need to take a good amount of time to decide the way forward not only to see where the current flock of Cons MPs land but also what the Conservatives in the country feel about them. They also need to wait to see just how much bother Farage makes for them although I would expect his interest to wane especially with the USA in such flux.

If they cancel the membership involvement they will be for the high jump. Not at all sure that they have a competent leader in their ranks.

The Times

Not a great choice, but they could do worse.
If they don't throw it open to the membership they will be in big trouble, this is what killed the party: they ousted Boris who had a huge mandate from the British people and replaced him with back stabbing Sunak who had zero mandate. Again, it's got to be a Brexiteer or the game is up.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

QuoteThe former home secretary James Cleverly is the early favourite among voters to replace Rishi Sunak as leader of the Conservatives, polling for The Times suggests.
The YouGov survey found little enthusiasm for any of the candidates and none had so-called net positive ratings.
But among the front runners, Cleverly had the most backing with 19 per cent saying he would make a good or very good leader compared to 28 per cent who said he would be a bad leader. Among Tory voters at the election he also performed well with 39 per cent saying he would be a good leader against 16 per cent who said he would be bad.
