Nearest to mid Feb was "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang. The week before was Blondie with "The Tide is High", and the week after "9 to 5" by Dolly Parton.

For the whole year No.1 was "This Ole House" by Shakin' Stevens, No.2 (aptly) Adam & the Ants' "Stand And Deliver", and No.3 The Specials' "Ghost Town".

The results depend on which chart is used. Nevertheless, I don't think I would have been subjected to any of these at the time (not "our" music), though my Mum is reputed to have cried at news of Marc Bolan's death a few years earlier...

I would but it only goes back to 1952.

It is no use to me either. Apparently when I was born "I'm looking over a four leaf clover" was playing on the maternity home radio.

OH no, that makes it a bit pointless on a forum full of coffin dodgers.  :shrg:
