I have an uncle of 77 with asthma. Colds and flu leave him struggling. He was told the same as you, and even reassured that his annual flu jab, while not directly protecting him against this virus, would likely help his immune system tackle any respiratory virus...

Update — I now learn the Doc actually said that the flu jab would help because Uncle's immune system would not be weakened by having to tackle this year's flu as well as coronavirus/COVID-19...

To be fair anyone that has had the flu will tell you there is only one place they want to be and that's in their own fartsack . If they come home they are going to be in some quarantined hostel  or the like so  may as well stay on board ship till as Borky says its blown itself out . The Japs seem to have it under control in taking the infected off to be treated so yes no need for grandstanding , leave them be .

Corvid 19 v my lungs would be a forgone conclusion and  yesterday I was chatting to my lung consultant about the odds. His response quite surprised me. He more or less said that any bad cold/flu would have similar outcomes and not to worry. His comments included lack of hygiene and congestion in some of the places most hit and a point that media hysteria has got out of hand just because it's new.

Now yes I can see some saying that he was protecting me but I think he knows me well enough to know that I am a realist without need of protection. His comments made a lot of sense. Pretty much everyone around me had a heavy cold before Christmas . Friends, neighbours, shop assistants all seemed to be coughing in my direction but I escaped. Perhaps my training has made me good at ducking fast!

Come on — if France and the US can manage it, surely the UK has to show it cares equally for its citizens...

And the WHO says don't take people home and spread it,and I agree with them it's like Borky says they aren't living in penury.
Energy....secure and affordable, not that hard is it?

What the fvck for? They are on a cruise ship with plenty of food and fags and booze and quarantined from the rest of us. Leave them there until the bug burns itself out and they have finished spraying snot on each other.
