Are you sure John ? I thought that the last time a British monarch lead his troops into battle was at the battle of Dettingen on 27 June 1743 when George II was in command.

I will.look that up.

I was waiting for a comment like that

When was the last time you heard a helicopter being scrambled for someone with food lodged in the throat.

Look it up. It was Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

The fact is they'd use the ICU bed for that T@@@ Charles and leave thousands of others to die.

That might have worked in a country where the monarch personally led his army onto the field of battle to settle disputes over who ran the place, but that last took place in Bosworth I  1485.

If you look at the newspapers of the time, you will see a quote from the time a mine fell in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. Speaking to reporters the then Queen said she now felt she could look the people who lived in the east end of london in the eye, having shared the experience of being bombed.

Well I'm sorry, but I say theres a bit of a difference between sitting in apron and headscarf drinking a cup of tea sat on the bare timbers which yesterday were holding the roof over your head and now lie in rubble at your feet, with your mother or kids somewhere under the rubble,  and bewailing a twenty foot hole where 'Chudders' has just spent a week rearranging the geraniums for you

And while I admit the propaganda effect of a direct hit on the palace would have been a disaster, I seriously, seriously question give  the sh*t we were in at the time regarding reserves or lack of them, that the bloke who killed himself ramming the german fighter about to strafe it was really doing the right thing.given the usefulness he might have been to.the war effort on even one more sortie.

No sorry were not remotely in this together at all

Ask the parents of the kid who just died because they didn't have the money or the insurance in the usa

The number of publicly known people now testing positive shows no one enjoys special immunity from the virus. So far I'm not aware of royalty or politicians being afforded medical facilities unavailable to others.

It's estimated that approximately 230,000 helicopter emergency medical services missions took place in the United Kingdom between 1987 and 2013** — why would the Queen Mum be exempt from such an available service?

I apologise if anyone considers this response too brief — though 50% has been taken up in addressing what seems an irrelevant comment on a long deceased member of the royal family...

i think pat might be suffering from the wind up WC 19 virus.

The things you need to look out for when he posts are...

- dry comments

- inflammation of the brain when 'The White working class" is mentioned

- sweating under statistical cross-examination

- inability to realise that "the Uk government stinks"

- spells of incredible froideur

And 10% of cases may have episodes of verbal diarrhoea. :brd:

You will do fine Tommy. You are a married man with a family to support and a business to run and as such should know that behind every silver lining lurks the good Lord, eager to piss all over you. But you will survive and prosper and make telephone numbers and join the Conservative party.

John i wouldnt take it seriously. Its just another fly by comment with the sole intention of winding up the ordianry folk he so readily despises.

The idea prince charles , any royalty or political elite are in this together with  any of us  is laughable. Or the uk government is reacting with extraordinary speed .

Its being forced to react to events as they unfold ,often slowly and often dragging its feet in confusion , rather than taking a pro active approach like countries like germany .

Im no expert nick , but the answer is they dont know if its a once only virus according to what i have read but many think it unlikely you can catch it again. Also the symptoms and severity range from the old to the young , in terms of severity to the actual list  and variance of symptoms itself.

I dont think there will be much chance of many of us getting tested. The uk will at best as a whole from what i have learn not even test around a tenth of what countries like germany are testing.

All any of us can do is knuckle down , wait for it hopefully to pass and then go out and try and pick up the pieces.

Actually, some good might come from all this kerfuffle. My knowledge of viruses is pretty near nonexistent, but I have read that they are unkillable. But maybe the megabucks being poured into the battle against the Chink Cough might produce some useful results.

While this is a worrying time for most people, the announcements that establishment figures like Prince Charles, Boris Johnson, and Matt Hancock shows there's some truth in the mantra: We're all in this together.

Add this to the extraordinary speed that the government has acted so far on medical, scientific and economic advice it's received, and I cannot see that there's much more we can realistically ask them to speed up...

I and several of my colleagues/friends recall being hit with something around this time. I was also in Genova between 9th and 15th Jan, the question is is this a once only virus or is it like the common cold or Flu?

My guess would be like common flu.

Don't think I'll ever know unless I get tested and I don't want to do that now as I have no symptoms, would be wasting resources.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

It's interesting that despite all their own warnings and advice, they have caught it, too. I think the Oxford university advice that over 50% have had it is probably true. With an odd exception, only the vulnerable are dying.
