Pretty terrible concessions.

On what?

So far no details have been given except that we can expect a bit of the horse trading that is part and parcel of every business deal.

From what I heard this morning:

- The UK is recruiting 50,000 extra customs staff to manage all the red tape after Brexit is fully complete.

- The entire staff of the European Commission for all 28 countries is about 32,000.

Oops.

Will there be checkpoints for good crossing the Irish Sea?

Course there will , and we have known this for a long time.

Publicly the tories are telling nick about how they are singing two world wars and one world cup to the germans and sticking two fingers up to the french , while behind the scenes privately they are kissing european arses and caving into the irish border issue and setting up the infrastucture to do checks.

Wasnt there recently a bit of an internal spat between the devolved governments and westminster over this very issue?

The scottish government ministers announced they wouldnt be in any way setting up checks on goods between northern ireland and scotland while unionists ministers at stormont latched onto this demanding there shouldnt be any checks between uk nations , all the while behind the scenes the tories were giving both a slap down and saying checks had to happen in englands interests?

The next thing im wating on is the use of covd 19 to announce somehow to a dissapointed english public that blightly will be having another transition , to be announced this summer. Politically i hope they dont , but if they do , im going to laugh my feckin head off .
An Fhirinn an aghaidh an t-Saoghail!

Don't believe everything you think.

Pretty terrible concessions. So we will have Cummings and people like Mogg (who thinks Indian air pollution standards are quote 'perfectly fine') deciding our regulations and protections yet also be subjected to EU tariffs at the same time...and there will also be a hard border at the same time?

That's even worse than May's deal isn't it? I can't really imagine a worse possible deal.

I always stood by my claim that a Brexit deal could and should have been made in less than 6 months after the Brexit vote, and that uncertainty and bad, slowly negotiated deals (that either mean remaining in the EU with vastly reduced leverage, or leaving on bad terms) are the worst possible thing for the country. If you put one of a small few quarter-competent Tories in charge, we could probably have had this mess resolved very quickly.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

The UK was "prepared to modify our ask", to regain autonomy over "level playing field" regulations on workers and the environment. "It is one of the ways in which we would be prepared to show leg," he said.

...

The UK may accept the "price" of tariffs on goods to strike a trade deal with the EU, Michael Gove says – as he again insisted there would be no extension to the Brexit transition period beyond 31 December.

The charges would be "a missed opportunity", the cabinet office minister said, but added: "If that is the price that we have to pay, then there we go."

...

During the evidence given to the Lords EU committee, Mr Gove also:

* Insisted the EU would fail if it asked the UK for a transition extension, saying: "We think it would be in nobody's interest. I can't imagine anything other than no."

* Admitted there will be border checks in the Irish Sea – after Boris Johnson repeatedly denied it – but refused to reveal details.
