Daily Mail letting it's readers know cars are likely to get more expensive.

However, in typical style they mislead by omission.

Yes, cars imported from the EU will be subject to a 10% tariff.

But so will cars from around the world.

The only cars that will not see a tariff imposed will be those made in the UK and S.Korea.

In summary

Cars that will be more expensive - all cars from the EU plus any countries where the EU has a trade agreement.

Cars that will stay the same - any car made in the UK (with the caveat that parts may be more expensive so pushing the final price up) and South Korean cars

Cars that will get cheaper - None

Obviously currency movement will overlay the above.

I agree, these new tariff rules will be fun.

Ok, in fairness there are some useful lower tariffs in there. I randomly checked out pianos, musical keyboards, harpsichords, zithers, celestes etc, they are lower tariff'd. I think synths were toi. I think components like soldering irons were cheaper too; so were different types of RAM. There were a lot of other cheaper things in there too whoch I skimmed over.

Can't open the csv file cos androined is useless (so useless..) and I'm not installing a bloody app for the 'privilege'. But the tariff checker will suffice.

Just posted in the interests of truthfulness and un-biased-ness.

Edit;

I'm not sure whether this will allow us to be singapore-on-thames or not, but the bar has been set high by the gnats for sure - can't imagine the EU will think their way out of this one. Heh, Bojo is outmaneuverable, he outmaneuvers even himself - who else has a chance?

Finally the light dawns!

Massive costs, paltry benefits

you realize we're recruiting 50k people to work on the new customs procedures.

That's more that the number of people who work in the EU commission *and* EU Parliament

We will soon have have extra red tape to move good within the united kingdom, let alone import or export anything.

This is scandalous. We must rejoin the EU immediately so we can continue to pay more billions into the completely unnecessary extra layers of government.

Jean Claude Juncker must be kept in gin. On expenses of course so tariffs mean nothing to him.

Brexiteers probably couldn't give a monkey's cuss about what tariffs are on anything.

They voted for freedom, which comes at a price.  :dsh:

The UK's new tariff schedule is out detailing all those lovely savings we're going to make now we have left the EU.

Here is the sun happily reporting...

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11655593/booze-coffee-trainers-cheaper">https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11655593/ ... rs-cheaper">https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11655593/booze-coffee-trainers-cheaper

QuoteThe tariff on a typical bottle of white wine, for example, will fall from the EU rate of £11.45 per half/litre to £10.

A saving of more than £1.45 a bottle!  Nearly 15% on a £10.bottle! Wow!

Let's get sloshed!....

Except.....something seems off. If it's now £11.45 per half liter, that's about £16 on a typical 700ml bottle, so how come I can buy a nice bottle of South American white for less than £10?

Hummmm.

Looks like the sun mistook "HL" for half liter when it means "hectoliter" ie 100l.

So the tariff is actually 5.7p a liter and is now dropping to 5p a liter

For a typical 700ml bottle that's a tariff of 4p dropping to 3.5p, a whole 0.5p saved!

Drinkers of the United Kingdom rejoice! A £10 bottle of wine will now be 0.05% cheaper!

How will you be spending you brexit savings?
