You are just repeating the same lies. It just makes you look silly when the official figures are there, in front of your nose, and you prefer to listen to political activists who have the same agenda as yourself.

No lies involved, I prefer to believe scientists who are not fettered by the official secrets act. Looking at news bulletins this evening beaches packed no social distancing, similar in other areas.

That 8000 a day is going to look nowhere high enough give it a week.

Frankly it is a disaster, of the government's making.

^^Thomas, it is interesting. It's therefore debatable that lockdown is very effective, if effective at all.

However, the anti government types like PS will be happy to extend any damage to the economy, as they will use that against them come the next election.

Anyway i was reading this over on slugger today and i thought it was quite a good article which may interest you...

QuoteWhat is the evidence for and cost of lockdown?

Ivor's conclusion is that this novel coronavirus once spreading in the population runs its course. Data from a number of sources confirms his view that lockdown after the virus is moving in the population has had little, if any, additional impact on death compared to basic distancing and good handwashing. Excess deaths in Europe in 2018 when Covid-19 did not exist were 140,000 and this year 2020 are 161,000 and it's not finished yet. So Covid-19 is a killer there is no dispute. Covid-19 has given us a pointy painful peak of deaths in the last two months mostly in groups vulnerable to the infection. Ivor argues that the milder winter of 2019, with fewer than normal excess deaths, provided a cohort more vulnerable to Covid-19 once it appeared. If we look away from the toxic infectious environments of nursing homes and hospitals, we find that lockdown has not had much impact compared to social distancing as is happening in Sweden.

Quote
Ivor notes countries that have reversed their lockdowns for example Denmark and to a greater degree Israel suggesting that the death curves for those countries just continues to do their thing that is fall without the dreaded second spike in infection rates followed by deaths which UK scientists are so worried about. If Ivor is right, and he has a number of high profiles experts on his side including Nobel Prizewinning Stanford Professor Michael Levitt, then lockdown has only provided about 5% more to the reduction in deaths compared to sensible social distancing.

You can't quote any official figures to back up your claim because you listened to a left wing expert who has constantly been on the government's back over Covid19.

You've been found wanting with your lies inappropriate assertions again. Quelle surprise!

1,936, is definitely not 8,000.

FFS a question was asked by a member the public at recent briefing about where were the 8000 a days infections coming from, the government expert at the briefing did not deny it or challenge it. He just fluffed.

It arose again here as well:-

Elite sport can return behind closed doors from 1 June, the government announced as it eased coronavirus restrictions to allow groups of up to six people to exercise together outdoors.

Culture secretary Oliver Dowden described the move as "a significant moment" despite warnings from scientific advisers that Covid-19 "is spreading too fast to lift lockdown in England" with an estimated 8,000 infections per day.

Barry it has been splattered all over the TV news, the professor was on Radio 4 being interviewed about it, so frankly if you think the professor is a liar I suggest you take it up with him.

Well there's a discrepency somewhere because https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/">this says the infection rate was only over 8,000 on one day, (April 10th) and since May 8th has been consistently below 5,000, and below 2,500 for a week now.

What your link reports is what someone said, but there is no backup in official figures. Where has Prof. West got these numbers?

Official figures, you like those, don't you? Have you a link to some official figures that show 8000 per day? No.

Prof Robert West, a member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Behaviours (SPI-B) that advises the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), emphasised on Saturday that about 8,000 infections, and 400 deaths, are still happening each day.

I don't like to say this, but it has to be said. I don't think that you are really enjoying this lockdown.

What an odd question. The are still 8000 new infections per day, which is frankly VERY worrying given the lock-down. How is it still getting spread in those numbers?

I am NOT enjoying the lock down at all, but the more the covidiots ignore it the more it is likely there will be a second spike.

That is why the police need more powers.  The covidiots over the last few days need jailing for the safety of the rest of us.

Last night I came back from my allotment with a friend. She is nearly blind and only one of my legs works properly. And I had just spent the afternoon mowing some very dry grass. So we stumbled onto the bus coughing and spluttering and sneezing and suddenly we are in the front and everyone else was cowering in the back. I was about to point out that it was old age and hayfever that was causing the fuss and not the Chinese Cold, but then I thought sod it, let us just enjoy the show.  :D
