A song about a Scottish hero (at least to some of us he is). John Maclean was a Revolutionary Socialist and a Republican. He was also to support Independence. He fought for the working class in clydeside. He was tried for sedition, because of his anti-war activities, and sent to Peterhead Prison where he was force fed. He became the Bolshevik representative in Scotland. At the end of his life, thousands turned up for his funeral
