Will Cummings have the parachute regiment disbanded?

Well, Mechanisation has rather changed the game over the last eighty years. Mechanised, Rapid Reaction, Air Mobile forces are rather more varied and generally effective than historic paratroop shock troops.
I would wonder if the story is being over egged and that a general reform of this area is what is actually being planned.

Yes, the paras now come permanently under the director of special forces and #1 para is an SAS support group.

I'm still hanging onto the popcorn but maybe it is a case of merging cap.badges.

My feelings are that the guys wearing those caps are probably better placed than anyone who never has to decide how best to go forward. The headline does seem to suggest - and I feel this is no accident - that the whole regiment skills and all are being disbanded. That sort of thinking CAUSED the bloody falklands war

The problem is Sheepy in your case ignorance is bliss.  I have been following Cummings for a couple of decades, how a dangerous  madman like him got anywhere near government is something I expect there will be an official enquiry about at sometime in the not too distant future.
No-one gets unaccompanied access all areas to security sensitive organisations and buildings, not even the Prime Minister, yet Cummings recently did.
I can't see GCHQ, MOD, MI5 and MI6 being happy about that.
(Especially as Cummings two year stay in Russia has never been explained.)
