Is Putin that worried about the UK's ability to retaliate or influence others?
It seems that along with disrupting the EU and Nato, he enjoys getting political factions in all political parties here to keep kicking lumps out of each other, and the general population to swallow and argue about whatever the latest concern is worrying them and the establishment.
Besides, the UK is a handy place to launder and distribute money. And attractive and handy enough for his dissidents to escape to — and they can be easily got at if they prove too troublesome.
Making sure Corbyn's prevarications (such as over Sergei and Yulia Skripal Salisbury attempted hit) get air time, and using useful idiots and paid and/or sympathetic performers to do the same on social media, is all par for the course of fomenting public unease and unrest...

Looks like the populists are the last honest people in the UK.

With the scrutiny we have been under we have had to be . But yes honesty is an attribute required for  being popular   :-X
Under full on attack for not following the set narrative and rejecting the lies and bullshit, is more like it. ;)

Not much doubt that's the intention, as it draws the Labour Party into the party so to speak.

Really? It is the Tories who got the Russian donations to their funds, and also Britain is now floats on dodgy Russian Oligarchs  money.
If Russia was supporting Labour in any way during the 2019 general election they did a piss poor job of it.
No wonder Bojo The Clown did not want the report published.

I think you are misreading the statement you highlight. Put it back in its full context .  If you can't. It was  drawing attention to Labours use of said document being used as  a diversion, from the Tories  own very real involvement in a number of ways with Russians.

Well obviously, if there is any hint of Russian interference in the Brexit referendum (and 2019 GE) then clearly this will invalidate both polls and they will need to be rerun, but this time weighted in order to counter balance malicious Russian interference  ::)
There are some very scared people now, just where do we start I wonder. Looks like the populists are the last honest people in the UK.

"Russian actors" almost certainly sought to interfere in the 2019 UK election through illicitly acquired documents, the government has said.
The documents - on UK-US trade discussions - emerged online and were used by Labour in the 2019 campaign.
At the 2019 election, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said the documents proved the Conservatives were planning to include the NHS in a future trade agreement - something denied by the government...

And now:
Russian hackers target Covid-19 vaccine research.
Russian hackers are targeting organisations trying to develop a coronavirus vaccine, a group of national security services has warned.
The UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) said the hackers "almost certainly" operated as "part of Russian intelligence services".
It said the group used malware to try and steal information relating to Covid-19 vaccine development.
The hackers are part of a group called APT29, also known as "the Dukes" or "Cozy Bear".

Have these revelations been timed to take the edge of the long-awaited report into alleged Russian interference in the 2017 general election and the 2016 Brexit vote?
If not, it seems The Intelligence and Security Committee has a best seller to publish...
Funny old world Pat ain't it, the security services and MI5 have been lying all along and Vlad has been buying up high level players from business and remain. As well as the civil service backing them and the majority of the media, I guess that could be called a gotcha. As well as the remain SNP, which guess what?

Not much doubt that's the intention, as it draws the Labour Party into the party so to speak. Which is always a bonus, regardless of how thin any connection might be.
Well at least it establishes that the Russians, state wise , or others, do get involved  in our affairs. What the aims are ,and how successful their activity is ,is hard to measure. This certainly didn't help Labours efforts. Maybe it wasn't actually meant to help them.
Whatever comes out in this report, it will have at the least ,less shock value. On the other hand even if the report says nothing was  happening, in the previous elections  this revelation would suggest , yes it was. The Russians , have had the capability for years now, they haven't just started to use  that capability.
