Good point. It is only 4 days to the 605th anniversary of the battle of Agincourt and the resultant salute.

Today is Trafalgar Day:-

If the EU doesn't want to play ball, we should stick two fingers up in the air.

Good point. It is only 4 days to the 605th anniversary of the battle of Agincourt and the resultant salute. I wonder if Boris will use the it to send a greeting to the EU and at the same time rally Middle Britain behind him? Something subtle such as F@@@ off frogs.

Probably not. That is the sort of thing best left Priti Patel.
Algerie Francais !

Care to provide links for any of that please?

Check HUF HACK channel on Youtube that will keep you up to speed on Royal Navy procurement.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-9SYti--FdqW80G4XDGxGw

The ordering of the auxilliaries story is a story from the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
So I don't have the link for you sorry.

The long and short of it is they have reclassified them as "warships" to get round EU rules on state aid.
Rules that won't exist in 2 months time anyway.

As is the orders for 3 frigates from Australia. Another Torygraph story from yesterday.

Turkey (or was it Cyprus?) has had it's frigate order delayed as we had the ship built but have pressed it into service as a fisheries protection vessel instead of handing it over.
And then the new "river" class corvettes are under going sea trials.

The new Boomers are under construction.
The second carrier in sea trials.
Amphibious assault ships on order.
The daring class destroyers are having engine refits.
The coastal command Orion planes have been received and are flying.
The aircraft carrier has aircraft and they are now flying from it.
Naval drones are in operation over the channel daily.

The navy is having a good time right now.
Getting the budget.
Bribing Scotland with billions of pounds in contracts.

I didn't mention the customs officers on the UK borders, 50,000 jobs there
I was talking about the UK lorry parks
It think the "lorry park" is actually a customs house. Technically speaking.

Yes, shipbuilding is booming.
Naval orders for all the new fisheries protection fleet and frigates.
Submarines, the carrier and some amphibious assault ships.
3 auxilliary ships that used to have to be tendered in the EU no longer are.
And we have lots of foriegn orders to fulfill too. India, Turkey and Australia spring to mind.

We should be less fixated on the past. Instead, it's time to look towards the feature.
Towns like Grimsby will become great centres of prosperity and trade again. We will rebuild our proud Royal Navy, which will once more, protect our trading vessels from the EU.

The new world is where our people will sail towards, to trade with the natives, to establish outposts and to settle.

If the EU doesn't want to play ball, we should stick two fingers up in the air.

Quote from: Nick on October 21, 2020, 12:02:03 PMYou don't know that is going to happen, if it does, it will be on both sides of the pond and the French will riot to get it changed. Only way will be to get an accord, so your prophecy of doom will be very short lived.
This is the UK estimate, why else would they put in lorry parks. Also the UK have said they will wave through EU deliveries into the UK so as not to hinder UK manufacturing and food supply. As long as that happens people will continue to ship to the UK.

Quote from: Barry on October 21, 2020, 11:51:57 AMYou say that, but there is a lot of crime, smuggling of goods and/or people across borders and some extra checks are always going to be a deterrent to criminal behaviour. That is a plus.

Actually "we" do know it is going to happen, hence the Farage Garage being built.

..... in Warrington.  Last time I checked Warrington isn't even near the Channel ports.

Also, there is already a huge truck stop in Warrington less than a mile from the location, so why they couldn't just segregate an area of that, who knows.

When you import a product the tariff is charged by the UK govt and when you go to buy the product you pay that tariff.

The Jobs being refered to by Gove are people managing the UK lorry parks, people servicing (food etc) the lorry drivers sitting around for days. That's all dead money.
Correct. You the taxpayer, pay the tariff.
And then the government spends your taxes for you.

On lorry parks if that's what you want.
Or "customs checks" if you prefer to think of them that way.

Think of all that lovely money the government is going to be spending on the NHS.
Clap for them.
