It has to be said that we live in quiet times. I am flitting back and forth between here and a couple of US sites but they are just as bad.  It is Trump is a loudmouthed buffoon and Biden is a commie who wants to nationalise the kiddie porn industry. And what with the country being ridden with employment half the posters who should be here are dozing at their desks or work benches.

Sod it, I am off to turn the compost heap.

this place should be buzzing with opinions over the last few months, instead it has become dour and close minded, I think somebody needs to add some thought provoking posts for a change.

Trouble is sheep , most of us know each other inside out and our opinions. On top of that , we are both brexit and covid weary , and not much is happening outside everyday covid hysteria to talk about.

Then we have lankou smurf trolling every thread from half six in the morning .

Theres only so many times you can listen to stories about nasty tourists and evil tories  , from the man who was going to throw us all through thick glass windows head first a while back but is now cowering under his bed  at the first sign of trouble.

This is true. And none of the major politicians are going to say anything until we exit the EU at the end of December and/or see the end of the Chinese flu.

It makes me a little wishful about Corbyn. Anything Worzel said was invariably stupid, but at least he gave us something to talk about.

Smurf is trolling the feck out of the place, we know it.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

Goodness, 4/11 voters would vote for other.
Only 2/11 according to the poll.
According to your poll 41.7% would not vote for a Parliamentary party.
Apologies for being a numpty. I misread Barry's original quote as only 4/11 would vote for Labour. Should have gone to specsavers I guess, lol
There was no need to apologise,  it was a simple mistake, its not like we don't all make them, it is those who don't learn from the big mistakes that are the problem, this place should be buzzing with opinions over the last few months, instead it has become dour and close minded, I think somebody needs to add some thought provoking posts for a change.

We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

There is of course the other option of voting for the best candidate regardless of party .

A hundred and fifty to two hundred and fifty years ago, maybe. That was perhaps the height of the time when the people sent to Westminster to govern or loyally oppose as they saw fit  actually did that.

Possibly even forty years ago.

As I posted on hearing of his death, the guy who was our MP in our previous address was remarkable for having few front bench ambitions and thus free to tell the whip to shove it when he felt his constituents would be better served by voting against the party line.

These days such people would be deselected

Why would I vote for any of them, when they are not fit for purpose.
That's an opinion, but it's difficult to see how it's to be resolved.
As there's also the opinion that significant numbers of the electorate are not fit for purpose, how's that to be catered for...?
I refer you to the words of Eisenhower, it is a shame the opposite has occurred.

No decisions are made for you, without a choice in the matter, which is something completely different.

Because decisions are made by those that show up.
