The vessels should be taken into tow and returned to their point of embarkation.

There has been plenty of time to build and and commission border control vessels for this very purpose, as the true situation after Brexit regarding this kind of migration becomes closer

Quite, and no sign whatever of any new border control vessels.

The RNLI is NOT a government agency it is a charity and if the government uses the RNLI to cover up the cuts to the Border Agency donations to the RNLI will drop like a stone.

Yer, the reference to the RNLI, was actually tongue in cheek. But then sending the Navy should be, unless they were going to keep these vessels firmly out of our waters needing us to no longer rescue the migrants. Calls for the Royal Navy, to intercept illegal migrants in the channel are being made in various circles .

Using what Navy resources to do it? (Not a trick question.)

Specifics are in short supply. As the Royal Navy is essentially an armed service, the question is . Is it the ideal tool to be doing the work of  firstly border control ,or as these people are officially in need of rescue , the RNLI.
Always remembering these are little rubber dingy style vessels posing no obvious military threat.

Calls for the Royal Navy, to intercept illegal migrants in the channel are being made in various circles . Wouldn't this be merely replacing , the rescue efforts of Border control?  Or do those calling for this to happen, think the migrants would be sunk?
