Anyway whilst everyone gets in to a lather about snitches,reporting others and how awful it all is,never seems to bother when it's your virtual neighbours on here does it......just saying

People who wrongly vexatiously report things are a big issue.

And if you end all anonymity it would indeed likely cut out vexatious and false reporting but would also deter genuine reporting through fear of reprisals.

Genuine reporting would stay anonymous to the fraudster. The malicious ones can frankly take their chance because in my experience their maliciousness extends beyond wrongly reporting benefit fraud where none exists.

For example, most snitching or grassing attempts to the DWP turn out to be groundless and are just people venting their prejudices.

That is exactly why such reporting should not be anonymous. The vast majority of such calls to the DWP are malicious, and the innocent victims should be given the name of who has maliciously reported them. It should also be a criminal offence like wasting police time, so the DWP can take appropriate action.
(In my experience the malicious people have multiple targets.)

Far better not to encourage neighbour on neighbour spying and reporting in the first place. If something is serious enough it will tend to get reported anyway, without active encouragement of a Stasi culture.
