just think people should be what they want to be  with as little government as possible .

That would leave the nasty people to do what they like. They have far too much of a free rein in Britain as it is.

As little government as possible doesn't mean no government .

That was a Britain wide poll with only 140 odd Scottish respondents. I suspect if a 1000+ poll of Scots was commissioned on this issue, the result would have been totally different.

Surely the point is that the English Tory lubbers seem to be fairly indifferent now?

I as a empathetic English (and by blood, part Scot - Bell clan) person want Scotland to get indy because you'll be better off and you deserve it after years of being ripped off by our govt.

I just think  non  socialists  think people , Nations ,should been in control of their own destiny . I as a Canadian adopted Londoner  (and blood of Germanic tribes , Irish famine refugees , Polish  Slavic's  and  English Gentlemen of York ) just think people should be what they want to be  with as little government as possible .

Could be, but the indications are that most folk south of the border don't give much of a toss either way.

Shame your grasping and ungracious parliament didnt have the same attitude , and then we would be well on our way.

Now Thomas will give me a torrent of abuse no matter what I say, and it will be ignored and I'll wish him a pleasant time. ;D :)

Personally I don't have an opinion on this other than it is up to the Scottish people to decide.

According to YouGov polling 20% of voters for the Conservative and Unionist Party would be pleased to see Scotland independent and 29% would not be bothered if it happened. A total of 49% are unfazed by the prospect of Scottish independence. Only a minority of Tory voters (48%) would be upset. That means Tories are more sympathetic to Scottish independence than the average voter. When asked how they would feel about Scotland leaving, only 15% of English people and 16% of Welsh people saying they would be pleased to see the back of Scotland.

Ironically, given the party leadership's staunch pro-union stance, it is Tory voters who are the most likely to say they would be pleased for Scotland to break away (apart from SNP voters of course). 59% of Labour voters support the union...

Nothing new , this has been the case for a number of years.

I think its more the fact tories in general are more pragmatic , and adjust far more easily to changing situations .

We see this in your country with brexit , where the tories have went from remain to leave , and harnessed the brexit vote  , while labour are still whinging from the sidelines about something that happens years ago and how democracy is terribly unfair.

One of my mates said this to me back before the scot indy ref.........if scotland had of voted indy , the snp and tories , along with the greens and some of the smaller parties would have embraced the new reality and have been quick to get on with things while the miserable bastards at labour/ libs would be crying in the corner into their porridge for years to come.

Looking at the state of labour and libs in england after brexit , and their non stop whinging , i can see what he meant.
