We need new parties, it's that simple really.

What is the point of new parties without a better calibre of MP? I think we have more than a malaise in politics. We have a malaise in society. Education that focuses not on the future adult but on not failing exams. Too many left thinking people in education drawn from left dominated universities. Little thought for those less academically able. Presumaby since they can't enhance a teacher's or school's reputation they are left to flounder.

We have several generations - to coin a well worn phrase - who are more aware of their rights than responsibilities, and those families trying to instil values in their kids are fighting an uphill battle. We need a fundamental change in expectation of all members of society.

Its showing how low labour have fallen when a party that had 42% of the scottish vote and 41/59 scottish seats just over 5 years ago is celebrating 21% in a meaningless poll.

What matters is winning votes on the day of election , and starmer wont be able to continue to sit quiet and hope everyone else implodes indefinetly.

Both the snp and tories have plenty of gunpowder waiting for starmer and labour when he finally pops his head above the parapet.

I've won all the arguments against Starmer against Javert, Smurf et al on this place and on another.

He's very easy to take to pieces as you say, read all the dirt on him and it sticks. You will clean up in Scotland gainst Lab I reckon.

Again though there's a notable Labour figure – this time they are actually narrowly head of the Conservatives, and actually a little bit up on the historic low of their GE defeat. Given the excruciatingly unrepresentative and utterly undemocratic nature of First Past the Post this may not do much for them, but it is a rare lead indeed.

he is getting a slight bounce in scotland too , for the first time in 18 months the tories arent in second place in a poll .

New leaders get the traditional bounce when they first get put in place , its nothing unusual.

Corbyn polled way ahead of theresa may , the worst tory leader in history but still couldnt beat her when it mattered.

Last poll i saw was if an election was held just now the tories would still win by a majority.
