Nonetheless, his position mirrors Corbyn's Brexit and Scot indy non-positions.

Hardly surprising that folks are criticising him.
Fat fingers on an iPhone —
But my question is why commit to a position at this time when he has little influence on any decision and there's little or no chance of it happening in the next few years?
During that time there will be changes in the economy, in demands for goods and services, in political thinking, etc, so that what's appropriate, correct or possible at present may not be so in the future — the LibDems found that out with promises on university fees...

Starmer seems to be continuing his predecessor's policy of sitting on the fence about so many issues. Perhaps we'll see some real policy one day, but Labour have been pretty much rejected in Scotland in favour of the other socialist party, the SNP.

Starmer's position seems sensible — he may not think currently campaigning on Sottish independence would be helpful while so many other issues are dictating political agendas, but ruling it out for all time is obviously wrong as another vote is going to happen sometime...

Another load of waffle from Starmer . The man with no policies tells us he wont rule out Scots indy  but wont rule it in any time soon ,Boris is a muppet and we are going to win elections .

Yer OK , thanks for that .

This made me laugh. Another Blair(ism). Promise a ref, get the votes then go back on it. Perhaps Blair has got his ear with his phone number on speed dial.

Indyref2: Starmer refuses to rule out backing Scotland referendum

But the Labour leader says another "divisive" vote on Scotland's position in the near future is "not needed".
