He was very much a decent Tory, and a constant reminder to lefties like me that decent Tories exist, and that politics is not all black and white.
Even though you cannot help defining it as so.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

I miss his contributions too, he was interesting to discuss things with and very intelligent, if a complete Tory faithful..but always open to criticism as long as you talk fairly.

We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

Major Sinic became exasperated some while back - maybe 2 moves ago. I miss him too it gets a bit lonely sometimes in my political corner.

You come on here to enjoy yourself?

Grief, you're really laying yourself open to attack now the forum's taken its cue from most of the worst social media since Covid struck. It's now turned into an insult firing range. Wouldn't bet on whether it's the board's Waldo or Statler, or Huey, Dewey and Louie who'll be out chasing after such a limp-wristed, Corbyn-loving, Starmer apologist socialist wimp.
Good luck...
Masochist comes to mind, don't know why.

He's a bit prone to going off in a huff. Some are, apparently.

But such is life.
Re-read post #30 and you might identify some support...

What possible purpose does a forum such as this serve beyond entertaining oneself? What else do you think anyone's participation achieves? I can tell you that it all adds up to the sum total of F@@@ all and if you think otherwise you are deluding yourself. So why would anyone bother if it wasn't a pleasure on some level? But I guess some get their kicks from trying to stick the boot in. It's their way of having fun.

And if you had any integrity or honesty at all you'd know full well I am no Starmer apologist. You appear to be another for whom misrepresentations and insults float your boat, all bravely put forth from the anonymity of the internet. Yet you call me a wimp, something you'd never have the bottle to do face to face, because if you did you'd be wearing your teeth as a necklace.

Quote from: srb7677 on October 01, 2020, 08:05:25 PMI have decided that too much of the personal insults and nasty stuff, and the ignore button is better suited for such individuals than to stoop to their level all the time. Which in a sense is walking away from all the nasty stuff too. This forum after all in the big scheme of things furthers no one's political agenda by a single iota. It is just a hobby, a bit like setting the world to rights over a few beers down the pub - enjoyable but ultimately serves no other purpose. So anything or anyone who persists in personal negativity is best walked away from. You are wise to take a step back from all such negativity rather than being sucked in. A lesson I am having to learn if I wish to continue enjoying this forum.

Stop using toots as a third party to talk to me. If you have something to say to me , say it direct and dont involve toots.

You have done your fair share of insults and nasty anti scottish comments , and now having engaged in that level of debate , you cant stand the heat when the fire is returned.

To be honest its fairly predictable.

You walk away , thats no problem.

You by your own admission are a paranoid delusionist who smokes drugs , and the bottom line as i keep telling you no one but you takes anything said on here seriously enough to cry off the forum with the exception of you. Its a debating forum , you engage or you dont at your own lesiure , instead of constantly crying as you do when folk dont agree with you or moaning how you dont have time to reply to posts as you work long hours in a supermarket.

Sorry no that's a misunderstanding. I was a party member for a while but lost the will. Well it might have something to do with me being female. I do flutter my eyelashes sometimes and I notice some do jump in and protect me a little bit which I always appreciate. I don't think I upset people, certainly not on purpose and I also don't argue, I like discussions and it's quite informative when everyone is feeling sane. Arguing goes against my principles and I have had some brickbats in the past for ignoring challenges, but they are used to me now and probably don't care. I enjoy being here most of the time although I walk away when it gets too blood thirsty.
Thanks for the clarification.

As has been demonstrated by myself and Major Sinic in the past (where is he now?), I enjoy reasonable debates with people I disagree with, especially when devoid of the lies and misrepresentations for which some are prone. And as for the insults, they can just bring out the worst in me and I can be tempted to respond in kind which is not big and not clever. With people prepared to debate honestly and politely it is often possible to find common ground even with political opponents, and to see where each other is coming from when you disagree and to disagree respectfully. Major Sinic and I used to do it all the time.

You might also be one such person.

Ah, so you are actually a Conservative party member? The mirror image of me being a Labour party member. We will differ politically of course but good to see another forum member prepared to be a part of something you believe in or at least have some hope for.

But tell me. Do you get anything like the kind of stick I get around here for being in Labour? Or are they just being partisan? Because be it the Tories, Labour, or anything else, it is good to be a part of something bigger than yourself in the hope of making some kind of a positive difference.

You're not forgiven ......yet! Interestingly although interested then in politics and a Conservative party member, apart from taking a seat at the polling station door I was far too busy to do much else and spouting C doctrine to a bunch of weeds is something I have come to later in life!

Oh I thought you gave them a speech about Tory values and bored them to death. Now that's an effective root & dissident killer! (and works on political dissidents too)

(I'm sorry I had to... only joking.. ❤️)
