I agree that there must be people who should be given benefits for their ailments and don't get them. On the other hand I KNOW there are people who do get them but shouldn't. You pretend otherwise papasmurf you would be kidding yourself. My gripe is very much the mobility allowance. Everyone in this day and age needs to be mobile, not just the disabled. I believe if a disabled person genuinely can't work they should receive exactly the same as an able bodied person that can't find work.

papasmurf, from your posts I would presume you would pay everyone the national average wage for the rest of their lives if they turned up on a bad hair day.

You really able to add two and two and make five.

ALL my campaigning is specifically aimed at the DWP/DWP contractors WRONGLY finding very sick and very disabled fit for work.

Until that is stopped I will carry on campaigning. However it seem as I feared with Boris in charge for five years the situation is getting worse not better.

I found out a few days ago the DWP are trying to force anyone who complains to their MP about the disgusting treatment they have had from the DWP/DWP contractor to sign away there right of confidentiality between an MP and a constituent.

I straight away contacted a member of staff of an MP who used to work for the DWP.

They are as angry as me about it, and are investigating what the hell the DWP think they are playing at.

I cannot answer how I would like to or I will be banned. (The DWP are ALL to blame in this case and have apologised and paid compensation to the family.)

That does not excuse their disgusting behaviour or keeping evidence from a coroner.

The case is not rare there are many thousands like it, which is why the court case which could lead to a class action against the DWP.

papasmurf, from your posts I would presume you would pay everyone the national average wage for the rest of their lives if they turned up on a bad hair day. Do you not realise there is only so much money in the pot, and the government/local authority have to be careful with what they pay out. You must remember that many of these people have never contributed to society, and thus deserve little from it. Once again, the woman in question was both mentally and physically disabled, probably bitterly unhappy, and taking a shed load of drugs to keep her going. Whether or not it was the DWP's fault, or part fault, she is better off dead. The fact that the DWP has had to pay compensation to relatives using tax payers money disgusts me.

More waffle, this time from a solicitor. It's just someone's opinion. None of it supports your assertion that her death was as a direct action by the DWP.

You say there are thousands of such deaths, no doubt you have the same evidencial test in your mind, which finds the DWP guilty.

Barry, the court case is based on evidence, the DWP has apologised and admitted liability. They hid evidence that should have been made available to  a coroner. Whether you like it or not, there are thousands of such cases. Stemming back to Iain Duncan Smith and Chris Grayling ignoring coroner's notices to prevent further deaths.

More background to the Jodey Whiting case:-

Benefits officials' apology after mum's suicide

10 June 2019

The Department of Work and Pensions said in a statement: "Senior officials have met with Mrs Dove to apologise again for the failings in handling her daughter's case and discuss the lessons learnt.

"We fully accepted the Independent Case Examiner's findings earlier this year and have since reviewed and strengthened our procedures to ensure all vulnerable claimants are safeguarded."

Basically the DWP has still done nothing and the deaths are still happening.

I would suggest you have not bothered to read ALL of that link:-

Merry Varney, solicitor from Leigh Day representing Jodey's family, added:

"Jodey took her own life just days after being told her ESA was being stopped and there is now clear evidence that the decision making by the DWP which lead to her benefits being terminated was completely flawed. Jodey's family have never had any doubt the DWP decisions contributed to Jodey's death and now that view is supported by the opinion of an independent consultant psychiatrist. Neither the expert report nor the independent report into the DWP decision making was available at the first inquest.

"The consent being sought by my client from the Attorney General is the first step to achieving a fresh inquest and ensuring there is a full public investigation into the role played by the DWP in Jodey's death. Against a backdrop of other families suffering due to flawed DWP decisions, achieving this fresh inquest is also of wider public importance given the role of coroners to consider risks to future lives and Joy's longstanding objective not just to get justice for her daughter, but also to better protect others from similar harm."

Edited to add The DWP has already had to pay £10000 to the family and apologise:-

But you missed the point. Forget the money, surely this woman is better off dead. As a society we should stop throwing money after lost causes. She would have been bitterly unhappy, and even if the DWP are partly to blame, the eventual outcome was surely the best one ?

Frankly you are an even nastier that I thought.

She died because her benefit was wrongly remover by the DWP. The DWP as already has to pay out £10000 to the family.

The DWP also withheld evidence from a Coroner.

This is not an isolated case.

The woman was housebound, with physical and mental issues. She had to take 23 pills a day, and was totally reliant on benefits. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but if she was a dog you would do the kindest thing, and in my opinion the kindest thing would be euthanasia. Her life was almost certainly a nightmare, and I would be amazed if she was anything but miserable. Whether the DWP was to blame is almost irrelevant, the eventual outcome was for the best.

I would suggest it is your bias in these matters which makes you say deaths are as a direct action by the DWP where there is scant evidence of that.

You didn't read the link, the woman is dead as a  direct result of action by the DWP. (Which is fully documented on a legal website.)

I do not accept anecdotal evidence especially when it is wrongly used to extrapolate as being national.

I am NOT interested in your jealousy  of your neighbours who are only getting what they are entitled to.

Jealous of my neighbors, to right I am. Lovely property all paid for, a brand new car, all paid for, and two foreign holidays a year, again all paid for. It's not just the neighbors papasmurf, I can give you many other true examples, including a friend of my wife's who recently had a 6 week cruise care of the tax payer. Yes, I'm bloody jealous of her as well.

QuoteThe family hope that this application will lead to a new inquest in which the failings of the DWP identified by an independent investigation and the effects of these failings on Jodey's mental state will be properly considered, including whether or not the failings more than minimally contributed to Jodey's death.
