High cost of postage.

At 80p per envelope, I think that is very cheap. The effort involved in getting each envelope to its destination is easily worth that money.

£4 postage per envelope?  Frankly that is outrageous. To buy A4 envelopes is about 10p each.

I remember when roses came in a tin was full to overflowing and wasn't a plastic case made to look large and a few chocolates in the bottom and all wrapper.

Yesterday my wife posted five A4 sized envelopes to Brittany, it cost £4 each. The last time I posted similar it cost £1.79.
