No it's always been for brown noses scouring the streets for young picks in the 80's etc.

Is it anything like when they offered Saville one or possibly when they offered BXP hero Claire Fox a peerage, where she's a defender of comments too awful to mention on here? Or is it different now and have they somehow reformed, is it better, worse? Maybe it's offensive to some, but then maybe some find it offensive that really nasty people like Saville got a peerage in the first place, apparently he liked all kinds of weird beastiality and other things.. bad news.

Well he likes yahoo news

Buckingham Palace can truly eat shite if that story is true and I suspect it is, why would anyone seek to defend that?

The Palace adequately explains their position in your link . They have removed honours from people  found to bring themselves into disrepute .

They became offensive when they started handing them out to the likes of Ms Green and other various nobodies for doing nothing for the people of the UK but being yes men . They were meant for people who went above and beyond not brown noses

Worthless gongs these days and yes shes right they should go but not for the reasons cited

I wonder often, in this great March they are on. when they say everything is offensive to them, how offensive they actually are.

does anyone take much notice of what labour says and who or what they say is offensive?

Kate green now with the empire , yesterday it was lady nugee and white van man with his england flag , and many years ago , glasgow labour council did everything they could to hide the remains of executed scottish rebels baird and hardie from the 1820 rebellion buried in sighthill cemetry in glasgow as they too found if offensive.

If its not hand wringing over nelson mandela or BLM , pulling down a statue or two , or erecting the latest statue to whatever trendy champagne socialist or "working class martyr" they deem acceptable , then labour dont seem to want to know.

;)

I'm curious to know what Scottish nationalists think should happen to the Order of the British Empire.  Being British-English I think it's time for the honour to be renamed mainly because we no longer have an empire apart from Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands so it just seems an anachronism.

Slightly more but I accept your point.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Well we wouldn't want to offend anyone Ducky, although more and more people refuse them these days anyway, mainly because they don't want to be associated with the people who get them normally.

im not british , so for me personaly i couldnt give a feck . Its like me asking you , an englishman , what the french should do with the order of the french empire.

This is labour here we are talking about , and im merely laughing the same labour tell us the same thing about scottish traditions or honours as they are telling the anglo british in this.

We dont have slavery anymore either , but this doesnt stop labour bringing up stuff like blm every second or wandering around apologising for the behaviour of yours and my ancestors hundreds of years ago.

If you english want to keep it then keep it.

yet another empty labour vessell makes loud noise.

This reminds me cromwell of an old story over on wings over scotland from a few years back regarding another empty labour vessell , alistair darling.

Someone posted and old picture of darling from his student days as a scottish socialist republican marching with his banners and long hair , contrasted with lord darling with his vermin in ermine robe in the lords.

Those two pictures side by side summed up the labour party for me.

No what's offensive is the number of clapped out politicians languishing in the lords, obe not known as other buggered efforts for nothing.

QuoteMs Green told the BBC's Nick Robinson she had thought hard before accepting an OBE for services to charity and welfare for her work in helping children as chief executive of the Child Poverty Action Group and before that as director of the National Council for One Parent Families.

She said she decided to take the honour, which she received five years before she entered Parliament in 2010, because it "thrilled" her father.

Reminds me of an old song by the Proclaimers -

QuoteIn Recognition of your 100 million album sales
In Recognition of your popularity
You take your gaudy prize from people you said you despised
You wear your self-respect upon your bended knees

In spite of all your claims
It looks like you're just the same
As every other clown, who likes put the crown
Before or after their name

In Recognition of your service to the working class
In Recognition of your party loyalty
You get an ermine robe and you declare when you are probed
You only took it so the missus would be pleased

In spite of all your claims
It looks like you're just the same
As every other clown, who likes put the crown
Before or after their names

Ohhhhhh Vanity
It gets them one by one
Patronage and Monarchy
And all they entail, rarely fail

In Recognition of your bravery up on the stage
In Recognition of your bank ability
You get to wait in lines with soldiers crippled by land mines
And you think it's the yanks that don't get irony

In spite of all your claims
It looks like you're just the same
As every other clown, who likes put the crown
Before or after their names
Don't believe everything you think.

Ms Green has not mentioned if she will be returning her own OBE but I assume that can be taken as a given  :) :)
