Anyway more importantly your right with regard London though thankfully apart from a very small number of knife crimes they are within groups of people with whom the vast majority have no connection . London is a very safe city but  way overpopulated .

London is one of the biggest shitholes in europe if not the western world. Its particularly galling the amount of money london sucks in from the rest of the uk , yet in almost every avenue of life, it is one of the most dirty crime ridden shitholes in western society.

Last time i was there , you couldnt find a shop front on oxford street that wasnt being used as a homeless shelter. Bins overflowing , dirty streets , thats before you even talk about crime drugs and pollution.

...and they have the cheek to stereotype the scottish over buckfast

Oh Thomas - don't be jealous! When we leave and you get independence and all the immigration comes to Scotland, well then perhaps Edinburgh or even Glasgow will be the proud claimant for London's title! :D

You cant claim Devons  biggest export to Scotland as your own even if you do drink most of it

To be fair streetwalker , anecdotally i have never drunk , nor seen anyone drink , buckfast in my entire life.

I think this stereotype goes back to the old days when the union was safe , labour were in control of scotland by keeping the natives fueled on cheap nasty drink and drugs and in complete poverty while promising us jam tomorrow.

Now we have loosened the lid on the union , got a wee bit of devolution and kicked labour out , we are going upmarket now with barbecues in the summer , beach parties on ayr beach , quality french wine , while making 80% of the worlds Gin and keeping england afloat with our whiskey exports.

I remember the bad old days when glasgow was the knife crime capital of europe , the cocaine capital , and empty bottles of alcohol rolling around the number 10 bus at night.

I think london has taken over all those accolades now havent you? Is that why you have fecked off down to surrey ?

Of course it does. We scottish invented pretty much everything you take for granted in the modern world , the telly ,  penicillin , telephone , capitalism , you name it . :hattip

You're forgetting haggis, square sausage, Irn Bru and Buckfast The world would be a dimmer place without them all.

No sorry Thomas I can't let you get away with that. Big eyes and big brains to accommodate a virtually nocturnal existence the further North you go does not equate to more intelligence.

Yup, we always went guising, my daughter did too and I always told her she had to do something too. We have kids going round now who will egg your windows if you don't answer. Changed days.

I know but that edinburgh has always been  a bit of a rough place unlike us posh folk in glesga. :hattip

My wife goes mental every year with halloween decorations , its like the feckin ghost train . One year i sat out in my front garden dressed up in a white costume with a mask and sat very still , and when my neighbour came past jumped out on her and frightened the shit out of her. :D

Member as well going to my aunties and me and my brother upstairs hanging out the windae wae a broom handle tapping the front living room windae and my maw and auntie kept going to the window shouting who is it? We were upstairs crying with laughter , each time we did it they were going mental.

And don't get me started on pumpkins for Halloween. Nothing signalled it more in my childhood than the smell of hot burnt turnip! How my Dad ever carved two of the buggers every year is beyond me.

i know my grandpa used to do the same.

Did you go out guising? We used to have to tell a story , a joke or sing a song  , now the weans call it trick or treat and expect sweeties wae a knock at the door.

He may have been in Edinburgh, but he most certainly can't be from Edinburgh. He'll be one that talks about scoones rather than scones too I'd imagine!!

Probably. To be fair though my young niece in paisley has never heard the term  "teuchter".

It may not be the continuation of the anglification of scotland , probaly more of the americanisation.

As well as getting kim kardashians eyebrows , next up they will be calling nappies diapers!.

I was reading on another forum a guy from edinburgh talking about potato cakes.

   Feckin potato cakes?

I think the anglification of scotland must just be about complete when they call a tottie scone a potato cake.ffs.

We even had to go down and invent the bank of england for them , and scotland historically had five universities to englands two.
