I bet if i put this on TikTok 99% woud say "who the f***"

But I also bet those of us old enough to be their grandparents will recognise instantly the photo he took and also know why that image shook the soviet union to its foundations

It was 1968. Christmas Eve 1968 in fact, and three men were sitting in a tin can, far above the world, and planet earth did indeed look very, very blue indeed

I was eleven years three months old.  The United states were in the thick of a not so cold war with a very nuclear and very super superpower and the race was on to acquire the status of being the first nation to conquer space. And as we who are still around remember, the US was making a piss poor show of it.

And then three men left the earth and took a ride well over the quarter of a million miles a vacuum-resistant crow would use to fly to a barren lump of rock in hard vacuum, and as they came round the far side, that man took this photograph, and one of the three quoted the frst line of Genesis back to Mission Control and for a few seconds the russian athiest superstate and for that matter the cult of the dead prophet whose empire was quietly building up in a sand filled shit hole were well and truly buggered

It was indeed a different world, and the shithole that has replaced it did not deserve to avoid the armageddon we all who lived through this time was coming

RIP Harry Belafonte:-

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-65390525

Harry Belafonte, the singer and actor who smashed racial barriers in the US, has died at home in Manhattan, aged 96.
One of the most successful African-American pop stars in history, he scored hits with Island In The Sun, Mary's Boy Child and the UK number one Day-O (The Banana Boat Song).
But his greatest achievements were as a campaigner for black civil rights in the US.
He died of congestive heart failure, said his spokesman Ken Sunshine.
His wife Pamela was by his side.

You're like the Grim Reaper reporting all the deaths, mind you, if your standing as close to the gates as you are I guess you've got a pretty good view of who's going in. lol

Yes. The view is pretty good from where I'm standing too.

I just noticed the report of her death on the Bbc front page.

Apparently she fell over and needed surgery afterwards.

I've just got this image stuck in my head now of God's Tannoy system...
I bet you have now after reading that

Can't believe it but Chrissy McVie has died age 79.

Mostly known for her many years in FleetwoodMac, with classics like Songbird and Little Lies, but my first encounter was with a other band C hicken Shack.

Bill Treacher - who played Arthur Fowler in Eastenders - has died today as well.

RIP.

Even from a kid, I always enjoyed whatever I saw him performing as. Hope he enjoyed his life too.

The only reservation I have is that he was a Spurs supporter, but I guess no one can be 100%...
