I am not expecting to go anywhere for a good few months either.  (There might be a motorcycle rally for the vaccinated only.)
What about motor insurance? I've not experienced Green Card notifications. Will it mean a hike in costs and depend on time away. And what about travel between GB and Northern Ireland and the Republic...?

It's up to individuals to compare. Initial quotes on most insurances can always be researched and mostly bettered. But why do you care? EHIC still covers you for EU travel — for us, I regard it as simply taking our potion of the NHS umbrella with us when we travel...

Travel/repatriation insurance is still a must, there is a lot the EHIC card does not cover.

No I effing don't. FFS.  What I do expect is for private companies charging exorbitant prices to be curtailed legally.
There is a reasonable price and there are sharks.

It's all theoretical at present, as I'm not expecting we'll go anywhere for a good few months...

So you want to drive them out of business and the UK taxpayer to fund your foreign holidays? You are a true socialist Pappy.

We have EHIC cards for the whole family valid to 2024. They still cover us for the list of countries the govt released. Interestingly we don't need EHIC for Norway — we only need to show our passports to get treated as locals.

The EHIC covers me for business travel. But if I work in Europe for longer than a few days, I'll be wise to have additional company or personal health cover.

Therefore you expect the taxpayer to fund your travel?

My wife and I can only get single trip travel cover due to age and that is expensive. (I suspect it will be even more expensive this year or not available without a vaccination certificate and/or Covid free test prior to travel. (The latter are bloody expensive.)

Therefore you expect the taxpayer to fund your travel?
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Interesting.

I guess that still awaits me in coming decades then because various sites a month or two ago seemed happy to offer a 63 year old annual cover for the same price as a 30 year old, but maybe that's because they've applied the fact that thanks to COVID no-one can actually go anywhere .... I only wanted a single trip, for September, but looked out of curiosity. my daughter's supposed to be going to a couple of things later this year, but as i said earlier, I rather suspect the chinese pox will piss on these plans just as it did last year.

Nick can get cheap all year around travel insurance, I can't due to age.

So why should someone else pay for your travel health care?
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Ah ok, that must have been a different post then. No one asked for money just a confirmation of my name exactly as it appears on my passport, and an email address at which they can contact me.

I am one of those sad people registered with the government of get updates.  (I nearly lost the will to live doing that. but is has been useful several times since.)

Basically if you are asked to pay it is a scam.
