Scotland had a once in a generation referendum. It'll be many decades before another.

says who?

In a democracy the people decide these things .

QuoteSturgeon should do a Catalonia, hold a referendum, claim independence and then enjoy the time to reflect on her stupidity whilst sat in jail.

So that great beacon of international democracy the uk , is looking at the spanish fascists on how to deal with scot indy? :D

The spanish at least had the puerile excuse spain was an indivisible country under what passes for their constitution , you dont even have that , so what would sturgeon be jailed for? Winning elections and enforcing scottish democracy?

Will we see english soldiers or police batoning glaswegian grannies and bludgeoning auld grandpas to death for voting the wrong way benson? ::)

QuoteBritish politics post-Brexit will not be any kinder to Labour. With the social structures of Labourism in the north of England and in Scotland now in terminal decline, there is every possibility that the Tories will hold on to the new seats they won last week.

As an indication of what may lie ahead for Labour, it is worth looking across the Channel. On the Rue Solférino, a stone's throw from the River Seine, stands the historic headquarters of the French Socialist party. It was recently sold off and converted into luxury flats.

Labour have become the party of the young southern english middle class in and around london and some university towns.

Still a good article a year on showing the mountain labour have to climb and how little they have come under sir keir knight of the realm starmer.

Apart from brexit not a lot has changed in uk politics , scotland bogged down in an indy ref stalemate , tories bumbling along  , labour going no where , liberals struggling.

Obviously all the uk is struggling with covid fatigue and lockdown depression , but at the end of the day many of the same major problems the uk faced pre covid and brexit still remain.

QuoteRattled Keir Starmer urged to be more 'pro-business'
After a bruising week, Labour insiders are urging their leader to be bolder on the economy

QuoteSir Keir Starmer will seek to reset his faltering leadership with a pledge to make the Labour Party "unashamedly pro-business".

In a strategy that will do little to endear him to the left of the party, the Labour leader is preparing to park his tanks on the Tories' lawn by unveiling a bold pro-business policy agenda before next month's budget. It is understood that this will include tax cuts for firms and a pledge to extend the business rates holiday to help companies struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic.

How the feck can starmer be "rattled"?

As far as i can see , the last year of his leadership of the labour party has been summed up as hiding out the way and sitting on the fence when the spotlight comes on .

In the odd occassion he does make an announcement , he seems to get it so wrong tactically , he then runs back into hiding hoping someone else does the donkey work for him.

Talk about a damp squib who is completely uninspiring.

Boris Johnson visiting Scotland will have done nothing to dampen down the desire for Scottish independence. Quite the opposite I suspect.

QuoteWorrying signs for Sir Keir Starmer in Scottish YouGov poll

Sir Keir Starmer:

Positive: 36%
Negative: 41%
Net: -5

If I was a Labour strategist, I'd be very worried by Sir Keir Starmer's results.  He really ought to still be in his honeymoon period, and he certainly hasn't had enough time or opportunity to properly upset anyone, and yet he's already in negative territory.

Without a doubt steve. Unfortunately for you , starmer is already in negative territory land among scottish people in terms of favourability too.

I think 20 consecutive polls saying there is a desire for independence demands a second referendum . The Conservatives are unionists though and  I really cant see Boris Johnson wanting to be the PM that sees the divorce on his watch

We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.
