Farage did claim that he has been offered a Peerage more than once in the past if he backed off and went away, if he is telling the truth I have no idea.

If the Police do investigate these allegations those who allegedly were offered a Peerage work or whatever will have put up or shut up, if they don't the Police cannot do anything, nor anyone else

UKIP just never had mainstream support.

The support was growing though Ciaphas , at every election the vote for UKIP increased . People were happy to vote UKIP in the EU elections which showed they had support ,they just needed to get some trust in their 'other' policies .

That trust was growing ,the conservatives knew it and was why they did everything to keep Farage out of Westminster in 2015 , breaking spending rules in Thanet where Farage was standing and offering the referendum to as they put it at the time to ''shoot UKIP's fox '' .

The support was there , it just needed turning into votes which it did in the referendum when 52% voted for UKIPs  headline policy

Indeed he is very good at the media game isn't he ?  He does have a bit of history with the conservatives though what with them throwing everything including the  kitchen sink and some at constituencies where he has stood in the past  .

One could suggest it has only been the conservatives breaking spending  rules that have stopped him being elected in the past and so of course he will be jumping on anything that looks like underhand tactics .

He certainly is.

However given that he consistently lost to Labour and the Lib Dems as well as the Conservatives I don't think you can blame his repeated failures to become a MP on the Conservatives cheating. UKIP just never had mainstream support.

He would have made a song and dance about it if he had. When has Mr Farage not exploited an opportunity for media attention?

Following Farage's claim that some of his eight members of his party have allegedly been offered Peerages by someone inside No 10 to step down, the Met Police are now assessing the allegations following a written complaint by Labour Peer Lord Falconer

It depends upon the sort of peerage being offered. A dukedom sounds good but if it is just a life barony, which is what Lord Falconer accepted, well, sad stuff.

One of my managers in HMRC was a baron. Decent bloke, but we all agreed (including him) that it was a pretty small bung for a political career that wasn't going anywhere.

Lord Falconer made and official complaint as did one other person as yet unnamed. (As far as I am aware.)

He made it very public on national TV , if he made a formal complaint to the Police or Electoral Commission I don't know

Well that has backfired for Mr Farage since it didn't apoear he had any actual intention of going to the police.

I do take some notice of the News most days and heard what she had to say and Farage, what needs to be done is to let the Police enquire into these allegations to ascertain if an offence may have been committed or not.

If the answer is yes then decide if a full investigation is required, I suspect the last thing the Police want to be involved in is nonsense by political parties mudding up the waters with the GE looming up fast.

It appears from Sky YV news a few minutes ago that the police are investigating it.
