QuoteMerkel, 66, says she WON'T have Oxford vaccine: German leader backs officials who have STILL not recommended jab for over-65s, while 1.2m doses sit unused and it's revealed France has only used HALF its 7.7m doses

Merkel said she is not eligible for the Oxford jab because German regulators have limited it to those under 65
EU citizens have been reluctant to take the jab after a series of top officials including Macron cast doubt on it
But real-world data from Scotland has shown that it cuts the risk of hospitalisation by as much as 94 per cent
Macron was challenged by EU leaders for claiming the AstraZeneca jab was 'quasi-ineffective' in older people
It comes as French experts warn the roll-out there is too slow to prevent a third wave without new restrictions

That does raise the question as to whether the EU countries want a tighter or looser organisation?

I think it depends borkie on if you ask the european people , or the european elite in their various parliaments.

The european elites will obviously want tighter organisation , and as they try and tighten europe into some giant superstate , the angrier the ordinary peoples of europe are going to get if they arent there already.

The EU is a horrific organisation, but then no pain no gain, it will be all of the fault of the UK. It still took a huge effort to get them showing their true colours.

QuoteGerman Perception of EU Plummets Following Vaccine Disaster

QuoteNew polling in Der Spiegel has found the image of the EU to have fallen amongst the overwhelming majority of the German public. When asked "Has your image of the European Union improved or worsened through the procurement of the corona vaccine?" 42% say their view has "clearly deteriorated". A further 22% said their view of the organisation has "tended to get worse". Just 6% say their view of the organisation has improved.

The survey, which asked a representative sample of 5,020 Germans from 9th to 11th February this year, also found that 68% had a lower view of Ursula von der Leyen – 18% "tended to get worse" and a full 50% "clearly deteriorated". The Spiegel editorial interestingly noted that heightened disapproval of the EU in general came from all parties:

"The criticism of the EU comes from all political camps. Even among supporters of the Union, the SPD, the Greens and the Left, more than half said that their image of the European Union had deteriorated. The proportion was even greater for supporters of other parties."
